Rookie mistake is to get in the first security line you see. Usually the ones in the middle or south end are shorter, so find a faster one.
If you have a military CAC, you can go to the TSA pre-check. No shoes off.....no liquids/gels, laptops out your bags.....none of that. Just walk thru.

Jason NietoJune 20, 2013Like others have stated, the line to get thru security is ridiculous. I arrived early and it still took me 45 minutes to get thru. Plan accordingly or plan on missing your flight.

Be sure to hit up Sub Pop in C/D gate terminal for awesome gifts!
You can get the famous and tasty Ivar's clam chowder packed frozen to fly. Just add milk when you get home.

If you're flying first class or are a card carrying airline VIP look for the priority security lines that are sometimes hidden!
If you're flying the Spokane or Portland Shuttle on Alaska Airlines, you can use the Premium Lane at security!
Love the free wi-fi; just sign-up and you're on.. works in almost all public parts of the airport and concourses..

If you've got status the line is shorter and easier through Checkpoint #2 behind Virgin America.
New McDonalds in the B Concourse. Now you have your answer to the question "are these airplane seats getting smaller?".
If you can take advantage of Pre-check, do it! So much faster!
Enjoy the art dispersed between gates and while you jog between connections
If you show up late, they'll give you priority bag drop and escort to the front of the security line. The rest of you responsible punctuals can wait.
Usual tip for all airports. Curbside Pickups at departure during late evenings are hassle free.

Sulman ChaudharyDecember 31, 2014Goto Beachers near terminal C before your flight. You will not be sorry. Only a 10 min walk from terminal A.
Remember there is a Starbucks outside of the gates. It's right behind the Alaska Airlines self check-in.
Great, clean airport. Southwest security lines are usually short and quick. Food selection is not bad, considering it's airport food.
During the summer remember to pack your patience as the airport is quite busy and congested.
Scott HilcheyJune 26, 2013Signage not to clear bizarre arrows pointing every which way... Easy to confuse. Rental car facility is far away and requires a shuttle bus trip. Make sure you have extra time.
Robbie LeibJanuary 11, 2010All the security lines have access to all the gates, ask an attendant or guard which line is short. It may be counter-intuitive, but I have saved tons of time walking to the farthest, shortest line.
