Locals call it "National" - but I call it "Reagan" (just to annoy the partisans who shudder whenever Ronald Reagan's name is uttered). ;)
Gates 10-22: choose the outside or furthest inside security lines. Far right is straight w/ no turns, so you can judge distance. Far left turns, but has most scanner lines to choose from.
Barb ChamberlainApril 9, 2011B concourse Gate 12 has a power station to recharge. Plug-ins in walls around Gate 14 nonfunctional 4-9-11 except for ones in a tiny alcove at the end of 14 nearest the moving walkways.
StarGirl11March 28, 2015Picking up people can be a nightmare since cars tend to park and not move even if their person hasn't come out yet. Expect people to have to come out past the first lane to be picked up.
My favorite DC area airport - almost no lines in the Pre-check lane!
BEST egg croissant sandwich ever. Terminal B, near gate 10. Can't miss it - only restaurant down that hallway.
Always bring earplugs, even if you aren't planning on sleeping. They prevent flying stressed caused by screaming children, seat mates that talk too much, and ear pressure buildup, if you have a cold!
The only airport to use when traveling to DC. Minutes from downtown via cab or subway.- Take a second to check out the nice architecture in some of the terminals.
The airport is small. All the flights leave almost at the same time between 5-6. The airport basically clears out for the next wave.
Give yourself extra time to get through TSA during morning & afternoon rush - the lines can delay you by up to 45 minutes on a busy day!
Take the outside walkway from the metro entrance at Terminal B for the fastest route to Terminal A.

Need to get to the car rentals? Door 4, top floor (go UP a level after you get off the plane). Signage is terrible. Pro-tip: walk inside, it takes a while.

Call it Reagan, as opposed to DCA or "National" in order to make sure people don't mistake you for someone who lives here.
Cabs in DC only take cash... But some of the friendliest cab drivers in the country!
I love airports, but not so much during the Pandemic 😳😷.

best airport in the country. rarely delays, short lines at security, tons of destinations, and the best views of any airport!
The lady who said this is an international airport is wrong. It is a domestic airport with no customs or immigration facilities. The only international flights are a few to Canada & the Caribbean.
Lots of construction with Airport renovations. Give yourself EXTRA time!!✈️✈️✈️

If you call it "national" to a cabbie, good luck getting to the airport without a confusing conversation. Quit pretending to have lived here for years, people.

For early am flights during the weekend get in the security line early. TSA hardly ever opens the Pre-check line on time.
