A frequent feline flyer was found flattened on the Tarmac! I sleuthed the solution while on my layover; the culprit was canine accomplice to a jealous rival breeder snubbed by Cat Fanciers Association
This place is so convenient for the city. Grab a cab when arriving here but try and take the metro when coming back (cheaper). Downside: the Delta Sky club is pretty bad here.
Walking through the terminal you will find an old turnstile & a wooden sign that was used as you left the terminal to board the plane. Cost was a a dime. Put a dime in the turnstile & it still works!
If you have to fly from gates 10 - 14 you'll find the corridors crowded & cramped. People just stand in the corridors by the gates. Best bet is to hunker down at the National Airport Grill by Gate 11.
DCA gets it done fast. Everything moves right along. The passengers are veterans at traveling unlike some other ports where everyone seems to be flying for the 1st time. Dress up. DCA is no slouch.
I'm glad I live close enough to make Reagan National my home airport! If you have a chance, go to Gravely Point and stand just beneath the flight paterrn where the planes take off and land-very cool!
Get to the airport even earlier if you're flying out of Terminal A. Waiting for the shuttle or making the half mile trek will cost you precious minutes!!!
Generally cheaper to fly out of this airport than out of IAD. It's much smaller which makes getting to your gate fairly easy and the signage is clear and easy to follow. Can't ask for much else.
There are many confused liberal Bloggers here who say call it "national" but I have lived here almost my entire adult life and everyone of value, including your driver, calls it "Reagan."
“DCA’s runway is relatively short. It’s 6,869 ft long, while most runways at Dulles are at least 10K ft. ~850 planes take off & land at DCA each day, usually spending no more than 30 sec on runway.”

Not the best facility, but it’s efficient and that’s ultimately what matters. If you have CLEAR and aren’t checking luggage, you can arrive 30m before departure and easily make your flight.
If you have time between checking-in, people watching and waiting in the Starbucks line, bring a good book to keep you busy during layovers. For travel tips and fun, follow @DoubleTree on Twitter!
Pro tip from Foursquare user Erick E: Fly in to DCA sitting on the left side of the plane and fly out sitting on the right. You'll have the best views for takeoff and landing.
TSA still moderately fast even during government shutdown. Wifi in airport, just use a burner email for signup and watch an ad for the DCA app to get connected.

There is no Starbucks past check point so get your fix before. Only thing past checkpoint is McDonalds, Antie Anne's n 2 gourmet shops that serves warm n cold sandwiches (and muffins).
First trip here since COVID closes everything. Airport is empty. Food court in SW terminal still open but little seating in restaurant due to social distancing.
Please, just refer to it as National. Reagan's over-reach in firing a generation of so traffic controllers makes naming an airport after him a sick joke. True DC residents still call it National.
Though often restricted by weather and visibility, the Reagan airport's "River Visual" approach offers some of the best views including Jefferson Memorial, Georgetown, and the National Mall.

Delta airlines makes you feel like a serf on the Titanic w/all their prioritizing of "sky elite" members. Just wait until 12 mins b4 takeoff to board your flight & you won't feel so abused.
Camp out at the exit before the airport if you're waiting to pick someone up. The cell phone lot is after you circulate the airport and gets crowded fast
So, so easy to get to. You cannot beat the convenience. Now they just need to put some respectable food beyond the TSA checkpoint. I pity anyone laying over here.
Beautiful skyline but a very annoying airport to navigate in. Oh yeah if you have to fly out of gate 35X you must go downstairs. 35X is actually 4 gates in one.
