Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is near the former site of Abingdon, a colonial plantation and the birthplace of President George Washington's granddaughter, Eleanor Parke Custis.
Knowing which side of the airplane to sit on so you can see the monuments, memorial, Capitol, etc. depends on which direction you're landing/leaving. Happy travels.
Left side of the plane when flying in. On the right side you never get a view of the National Mall on the left there is a chance if you land on the right runway.
The USO of Metropolitan Washington extends far beyond the airport. If you're military and not from here, grab some information at the USO before you leave.
As usual bad design is evident everywhere. With most Americans traveling with giant cabin baggage why is the entry to the men's room a mini-maze that going in and going out traffic can't pass?
A. The northern Virginia Joint Terrorist Task Force repels in and sets up a perimeter to protect your items and wait patiently for you to finish what YOU are doing.
It’s a good airport to fly out of because it’s so tiny. You can get here not too long before a flight and breeze through security. Delta priority check in is a joke here. Clear & precheck are similar
Used an iOS passbook boarding pass. Was very easy getting through security though a little awkward at the scanner since my phone still had to go through the X-ray.
WiFi is now FREE. Make sure to check your security settings on your laptop so you can access the unsecured signal and upon agreeing to the "terms and conditions" for use.
Taking the Metro to and from National is helpful, but keep in mind it does not run all night, so check schedules and plan for a cab or pickup if necessary.
