If you're there early enough get a tartine. Blueberry is my favorite.

The legend in the flesh. Mobbed with tourists during the day, but still cool for late-late. Banana donuts from bakery next door worth killing for. [BlackBook] Read more

I got a croissant at Ceci Cela for $2.20 that was extraordinary. Then I walked down the street to Balthazar where the light fixtures were fancy and the $3.50 croissant was quite mediocre.

We had to wait for the table for 30 min even though we had a reservation and they forget to bring the food I ordered. It was an embarassing experience. It's not worth the money.

Be kind to the very friendly staff. Also, if you go in the morning they usually leave samples of a croissant or a pastry on the counter.

Decent steak frites. Steaks a bit tough and inconsistent. The first was flavorful but mistakenly done to medium, the second had the cornfed sour but had better texture. 4/5
