- If you are flying United, you should join TSA's precheck program first. Allows you to breeze through security as you don't have to remove your shoes, laptop or liquids. Amazing!
LAX is changing for the better but still has long way to go. I've never had too much of a wait for TSA or immigration/customs. The main problem is the traffic getting to it. Allow yourself plenty of time due to traffic entering the airport so you are not to miss your flight!
For wifi choose LAX-WiFi and open in Safari. Watch a 30-sec ad from one of the sponsors (mine was Ford) and you're good to go
Great airport, easy to move through security quickly. Food is overpriced, but fairly efficient place to travel through.
Make sure u budget extra time for arriving to your terminal. Google maps only calculates the time to get to the airport itself.

Auntie Anne’s Pretzels located in Southwest Airlines terminal. One of my favs…grab a pretzel with a side of cheese
All of the terminals have made big improvements for food/drink options and ambiance. Transportation is still a disaster. Grab and Uber or lyft from the departures level
Don’t expect to get anywhere fast. You need to take a shuttle bus (of varying frequencies) to get anywhere upon arrival… whether it’s rideshare, public transport, or rental cars. 👎

Landing in LAX from an international flight with checked bags? You'll need to go through US customs here retrieve your bags and recheck them for connecting flights. Get Global Entry and cruise through
If you have an early flight, 5am our earlier, the TSA preapproved section is not open.. You can show your boarding pass and not take off your shoes, but laptop/tablets have to come out. Now u know.

Plenty of food options and coffee. Airport is under construction in some areas but it’s pretty efficient. Many flight options too!
Whenever I fly out, I specifically wear my studded booty shorts and lots of massage oil all over my body to cause stress at TSA. Guaranteed enhanced pat down, if you enjoy that sort of thing! ;)

My least favorite airport for international connections, up there with CDG for poor connecting experience, but without the reward of good amenities.
Make sure you plan enough time when you are in transit! In Terminal 5, I took a walk in the most dreadful empty corridor (which seemed to be a 30 min walk), to get to the baggage claim. 🚶
There are lounge chairs that are decent for napping near the 4th floor airline lounges in terminal 2. They're outside of the lounges so you don't need access to get to them.
Everything is great here just make sure to give yourself about an hour to get through tsa. I love the bars
Ariel HermanJuly 9, 2017In true LA fashion, the traffic at the airport can be horrendous so budget that into your timing. Also the terminals here aren't connected so make sure you know which terminal your flight leaves from.
If you decide to skip the body scanner, reenact meg ryan's dining moaning from 'Sleepless in Seattle' while getting the pat down.
