It looks dated, needs a big overhaul. If you don't have TSA pre approval, expect to do at least an hour in line.
Delta terminal 5: there's a healthy-ish food stand near gate 54. Do it up.
If you see a monster on the wing, you have entered the Twilight Zone.
have people pick you up in the departures section (which is right upstairs). they can find curbside parking there.
Curbside check-in rocks. It will save you a lot of time and headache here.

A maze to navigate if you're planning on moving between terminals. LAX should consider a shuttle between terminals.
This is hands-down the worst airport in America. The traffic congestion getting in, the dilapidated terminals, the lack of amenities, the lack of acceptable connections between terminals;
Don't take an uber here. You'll end up waiting more than 30 minutes for them to make their way from their parking lot to you. Better to take a cab.
