ZenFoodster: Best value Jap-Chinese owed sushi joint in NYC! Love 9-pc w/ 1 roll “Sushi Deluxe” (+$1 for CA Uni), Gyoza, hot Soba, Mixed Seaweed Salad, Tofu Steak, Yellowtail Toro Scallion & Futomaki/Veggie rolls.

Jess Naldo: Come after midnight and you can literally split an entire galbi/kalbi meal with soondubu and hella banchan for around $12 between 2 people. Best, probably yummiest late night deal in NYC ❤️
ZenFoodster: Creative fare frm Chef Brady of NYC's Bouley & David Burke kitchens. Only complaint: tight booths indoors. Be sure to request 4 tbl in advance or head out to posh Patio- w/ H2Ofalls & NE coastal fare

ZenFoodster: $10 wkday & $13 wkend buffet! My faves: Gobi Manchurian, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Ammwala, Lasooni Chicken, & Chettinadu Veggie. Menu full of Indo-Chinese specials & options. Never a bad dish yet
American Restaurant · Chelsea · 21 tips and reviews
Renaud #: Inventive cuisine with a focus on healthy, sustainable ingredients. We recommend the "Mushroom tartare" as appetizer. The restaurant is split into 2 spaces: the bar, and the dining room
ZenFoodster: Roadside shack w/ 1 of the freshest (& sweet meat) crab rolls I've had so far! And LOVE female lobsters -w/ smaller middle feelers- for ROE (orangy-red when cooked)!
ZenFoodster: Blueberry & Rum Raisin lovers rejoice...THE BEST homemade ice cream I’ve ever had (IMHO as a world-traveled NYC gal)! A 5-star MUST-TRY if you're in the area! Cute village by the sea too. :)
39 Fishermans Wharf (off Olivier St), Monterey, CA
Seafood Restaurant · 146 tips and reviews
ZenFoodster: My Monterey go-to for seafood for 20+ yrs: NE clam chowder in a bread bowl, bucket of steamed clams, Cioppino + always a great view of the Bay & abundant marine life below Fisherman's Wharf!
ZenFoodster: 1 of my fave vineyards on the N Fork. Unpretentious, chill ambiance w/ friendly staff & a dog named Panda. Love the Wild Boar Doe, Rosé, Coalescence, Chardonnay, & Pinot Blanc.
ZenFoodster: Love how surprisingly fresh & creatively plated the sushi is. Just save me a spot at the sushi bar & order the perfectly fried gyoza along w/ the uni, Grilled Tuna, & Volcano rolls.
ZenFoodster: Unlike others that entertain w/ same mediocre Chef tricks, show & food, Kiku serves a # of options apart frm tasty teppanyaki: amazingly fresh & creative sushi rolls & other yummy Korean dishes.
ZenFoodster: Know what ur getting...ask waitress to bring #1 (larger) vs #2 (smaller) Blue Claw crabs to compare sizes - varies daily! I eat 'em Shanghainese way-simply steamed-w/ Chiangkang Black Vinegar sauce!
ZenFoodster: Why drive to MD to have best whole Blue Crabs done MD-style or in a garlic sauté + MD Crabcakes when u can come here?! MD Crab & NE Clam chowdas (altho' watery) are tasty. Order drinks & wait it out!

Mexican Restaurant · 13 tips and reviews
ZenFoodster: Epic find: the best carnitas (& pollo) taco I've had on the E coast! It goes head-to-head w/ a few of my faves on the W coast. Their tortillas were freshly handmade w/ corn masa right in front of us!
ZenFoodster: Like Viet pho joints in LA-most phenomenol pho (Viet beef soup noodle) I've tasted on E coast! I recommend squeezing some lime in the broth. Cha gio (spring, not Summer rolls) are damn good too!
ZenFoodster: Although I love the Pho, it's inconsistent. Noodles were perfect on 1st try & too soft & overcooked on 2nd but broth was heavenly. Don't bother ordering Banh mi (sammies)-they totally skimp on meat!
ZenFoodster: Order the Black Raspberry Rum Cake- our fave & the Caribbean Rum Bundt Cake is also great. Both have pure Madagascar vanilla & packed full of dark Bacardi Rum in the batter & the sauce.
ZenFoodster: Tasted (+ bought 2!) BEST rum cakes off the Caribbean @ an UES street fair. Not cheap & they're originally based in Troy NY but you can also order the Black Raspberry Rum Cake- our fave- online!
ZenFoodster: $9.99 (Mon or Tue?) wknite specials w/ entrée, side salad & pasta was a great deal! Chicken parm & cheese ravioli were rich & savory. Sad Ckn Francese & Ckn w/ Marsala sauce weren't part of the deal.
ZenFoodster: One of the most unique & toothsome versions I've ever had- lightly-battered, fresh calamari fried & nestled on a bed of lettuce, onions, pickled hot peppers all in a vinegary & buttery wine sauce.
ZenFoodster: My other faves: NE clam chowder, MD-style Crabcakes, local fried scallops, potato salad, & corn on the cob (when in season July~early Sept)!
ZenFoodster: Van's (in Albany) & this sibling serve up THE BEST Viet fare on E. Coast: beef noodle soup, Viet spring rolls, & grilled pork are my faves!

Farm · 28 tips and reviews
ZenFoodster: Local & seasonal family-run farm / country store that sells local produce, good apple cider, baked goods, homemade soups, sammies & salads. Love their Reuben, coleslaw, chicken salad & potato salad!
ZenFoodster: Corn & onions come w/ steak. Get small salad+potatoes OR garlic rice (barely enough for 2). Use both Pepper & Onion dressings on salad. Head to back section for real table instead of hi-tops up front
ZenFoodster: Steaks are “wet-aged” for 40+ days. Sirloin was tastier & leaner than Ribeye, which was 1/4 fat. Gals: opt for 8-10 oz & Ikinari sauce (a lil’ goes a long way). No need for sides if U get rice.
ZenFoodster: Good NE clam chowda, cole slaw & lobster roll (1/4 or 1/2 lb meat). Stars are fried scallops, onion rings & lobster stew (more watery lobster bisque w/ tons of meat). Trying Strawberry cake next time
ZenFoodster: Average 15-hole mini-golf for $8/adult but awesome ice cream shop run by same family for ~30 yrs! Love the Frozen Pudding (rum raisin ice cream w/ bits of dried fruit) & the Red Raspberry Swirl. ;9
ZenFoodster: The BIGGEST Bull Moose of them all! Mind-blowing selection of new & used music...you'll need weeks to go through everything! They have a book section too.
ZenFoodster: My fave shack w/ outdr seating & view of Casco Bay. Super fresh & cheap: fried scallops, crab+lobster rolls, lobsters right off boat! Clam Chowda's full of clams. + BEST blueberry ice cream ever! ;9
ZenFoodster: Follow painted lobsters to Lobster Pound (only 4 steamed lobsters, clams & soups). Skip Soups-watery & lacking in taste. Great steamed Littlenecks + lobsters but wish U got ur pick of M or F lobster.
ZenFoodster: Known for their #1 of Maine-style lobster roll (w/ 1 WHOLE lobster), this roadside shack in Wiscasset (right before crossing bridge E to Edgecomb) can't be missed..1-hr long line just to order!
ZenFoodster: #1 of Maine-style lobster roll (w/ 1 WHOLE lobster)! 2nd fave: Grilled Haddock sandwich. Scallops were very fresh & onion rings ok..except batter was too thick. Mayoey crab roll w/ lotsa meat.
ZenFoodster: Yrs of lovely, romantic moments here :)...my #1 spot for the most spectacular views of LA! Go watch the sunset, visit Planetarium, & see the stars w/ the lawn telescopes instead of lining up 4 Zeiss.

Shopping Mall · Mid-City West · 664 tips and reviews
ZenFoodster: A touristy spot but I still love the Grove for the relaxed shopping atmosphere, tacos & aguas frescos at La Lotería in Farmers Mkt, & the star-sightings. Also, I get my parking validated in the Mkt.
ZenFoodster: Great wedding memories @ this small beach-front luau w/ welcome orchid lei, private table server, live performers, 5-course authentic Polynesian food+open bar. Great pork + Mai Tai's & Blue Hawaiians!
ZenFoodster: Pricey but an al fresco AYCE buffet HK fave of mine: zen atmosphere, poolside dining next to HK Harbor, & high-quality grilled meats, seafood & salad bar, & dessert station.

ZenFoodster: Don't walk out without gettin' some homemade mozz, grilled chorizo, & huge arancini balls-the best! So is eggplant parm, which beat out Bobby Flay's! Thanks again for all the yummy tastes, Dave! ;9

Sandwich Spot · Midtown East · 238 tips and reviews
ZenFoodster: The savory & sweet grilled peach & bacon sandwich is a bit messy & juicy but is a yummy summer addition to Num Pang's many delish sammies on their menu!
ZenFoodster: Not a fan of Ipswich clam w/ a siphon (gross foot/tail). I go 4 smaller Littlenecks or medium-sized Topnecks / Middlenecks but wish MC’s steamed 1’s weren’t gritty. No Manila & Razor Clams found here
ZenFoodster: Alaskan King Crab @$42/lb (1 jumbo leg) supplier is frm CA & was fresh but meat was brinier than sweet. Blackened Grouper-fresh, tasty & not too oily-good find! Potato salad was bland & starchy today.
ZenFoodster: Even if U don’t leave room for dessert after this sumptuous seafood meal, get the Key Lime pie to go..it’s the best 1 I’ve had in a while!

ZenFoodster: Crab cakes are a bit eggy 4 me. Come 4 yr-round med-jumbo Steamed Crabs flown in daily from Gulf. "No Old Bay! Plain pls" I eat 'em w/ my Black Vinegar (Shanghainese way). Coleslaw is not 2 mayoey.
ZenFoodster: Newly-opened thin-crust Boston pizza chain seats~25 ppl. BEST non-NYC-style 'Za on UES! Make it ur way: healthier, Vegan or GF & in 1/2 or full pies. Super-fast & fresh...more like Cali ‘Za #pizzatime
