Food was innovative and tasty. Some items were pretty rich. The wine pours small and pricey ($15 was the least expensive). Corkage fee is $30 each for the first two bottles. Service was Great!
Didn’t like that the walk-ins were seated before us (despite us having a reservation) but the space is nice, the food is interesting. The quail, dumplings, carrotmochi and pork belly were memorable.
Excellent. Some of the best food in the city. American cuisine done Dim Sum style. Walk up at 5pm with only 2 of you and you might get a seat at the bar.
Underwhelming and overhyped. Had to think hard for a favorite dish. Liked the fregola summer salad, pork belly, and sweetbreads. Ice cream sandwich was good too.
There are lots of walk-in spots, but I tried arriving at 4:45pm on a Monday and missed out on the 5:30 sitting. Suggest 4:30pm, or you may have to wait till 9pm or later to be seated.
Def get the sturgeon pancake, hamachi, state bird, duck, and ice cream sandwiches! Get a reservation or show up and wait in line at 5pm for 530 seating.
Everything is delicious, but if you get nothing else, get these: Garlic Bread with BurrataPork Belly Plum SaladSweet Corn & Mt Tam 'Shortstack'Duck Liver Mousse w/ AlmondBiscotti
I honestly expected more. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Some plates are unique such as the moussefoie. However other ones are just good, not exceptional. Price is acceptable. No cocktails.
Waiters roam the room serving innovative small bites from dim-sum-style carts. The seafood selections are particularly worth flagging down for delicacies like black-garlic aioli on a fried norichip.
Esquire: Serves up creative, California-inspired dishes dim sum-style. I don’t think there’s any restaurant that captures the state’s madcap collision of culture and flavors quite like State Bird.
Very nice concept with half of the menu written and the other half just offered to people by waiters just walking by. Interesting taste combinations. too pricey what it is. It is not Michelin level.
