Have an extended layover? Take the Airport Flyer (150) bus to South Beach. About 30 minutes & $2.35 each way! Get off at Lincoln & Washington. Just beware the security line upon your return. Nasty.

JojoMay 6, 2012AA Premium lounge at E terminal has food&drinks&shower but doesn't open til 1pm. AA lounge at D30 opens early and has nice showers, but pay-for-food.
What's the point of having a "people mover" train if you still have to walk 10-20 minutes from the station to check in?
If you're visiting MIA, get cash before the taxi stand, most cabs don't take cards.
If you have time, make sure to get food before you go through security. They have very little options and everything is always overpriced. Worst part of all, Gate G area has no alcohol for purchase.

The good - leaving for international flights is pretty easy. The bad - long walk with a poorly lasted out route to customs when you arrive back in the US. 😝

As of April 2013, give yourself at least 2 hours to clear immigration and customs. There are no special lines for connecting flights.

Jesse DNovember 1, 2013Never, ever, select any kind of American Air upgrade whatsoever- it's a scam. EX: the checkin kiosk says $80 to upgrade to 1st class. But, once u pay it turns out it is only to put u on standby list.

TSA precheck is the only way to get through security checkpoint H efficiently.
When you need to get to any D gate use the check point at the far end of the American ticket counters. Shorter line.

If your gate isn't ready you may have to sit and wait 20+ minutes until it is. You can turn on your phone but you can't use the lav.

Maybe 1 in 10 cabs take credit cards. It's like going back in time.
Be sweet with all the staff and they will treat you well.
Terminal E is a ice box. Easily in the lower 60's. We are going south and aren't wearing a lot. Dress warm.
anticipate extra long security lines....any day or the week.
Rob WoodsOctober 31, 2013Leave lots of extra time to get to your gate. One of the worst laid out airports ever. Like a long snake. If you get on / off near the end you have miles to go to or from your gate.
