- Umman KhawajaAugust 4, 2014Take silver line express shuttle in upper pick up ramp, not the lower ramp for hotel/rental shuttle.
- Heads up.. IAD to JFK and back is $49 during the week on JetBlue. I'll be here a lot more often.
- Vino volo in concourse B is fabulous. Intimate seating. Wine flights are good
- Tons of united lounge options and if you have Global Entry super fast to clear immigration and customs.
- Leave lots and lots of time to clear security. It's very slow. The train doesn't go to the D terminal and doesn't really go to C either, it goes a couple hundred yards past and you have to walk back.
- My family lovingly deemed the A concourse "A-gate hell". Always something going wrong here...
- Seats in Terminal B are super comfy to sit in...super UN-comfy to sleep in.
- This airport must be the reason why people advise to arrive three hours before international flights. Difficult to get to, slow lines once you do, and long distances to gates.
- The Chipotle in Terminal B across from the Admiral's Club has breakfast options! Instead of rice, there are potatoes and eggs. Chorizo is a meat option instead of steak.
- Black bean burger at Au Bon Pain is good even if you're not a vegan
- Ashleigh DavenportMarch 11, 2013Max and Erma's is quick, sit down, decent breakfast on Terminal B. Not a bad pick!
- John BSeptember 13, 2016Poorly planned layout. After a long construction period, travelers still need to walk a mile to get to their terminals. Airport workers are rude and don't care to help travelers even basic directions.
- Gabriel SeahOctober 5, 2023This airport feels like something out of the 80s, from decor to facilities
- Nathan YoungAugust 13, 2011Hit up the motion sensing tangram puzzle in concourse A. Hint: it is not a touchscreen, it tracks your hand movements. Fun times waiting for delayed planes.
- From immigration to domestic connecting flights, there's an express lane to the security check on the left side for UA 1st class, global services & crew
- US Air has all of terminal Z. TSA PreCheck and a US Air flight from Z make Dulles a tolerable experience.
- Jennifer HaackJuly 22, 2018Avoid laying over here if its your first stop in the US. Immigration takes forever, and logistics are horrible. You’ll probably miss your connection...
- Brenda TassavaAugust 27, 2011B Gate concourse is excellent! Wander down near gate B73 for a great food court selection.
- Be patient when picking someone from the arrival areas.
- Mirko PintarAugust 20, 2014Is tough to navigate around the airport. It's not designed as user friendly
- Way better than National. Can't wait for the metro line to be finished!
- Star Alliance gold members... Check out the Lufthansa lounge in terminal B, especially if you have a first class ticket!
- Visiting US? News exchange has prepaid sim cards for your phone/iPhone at News Exchange, near SBUX
- The small bar attached to Cosi is awesome! Ask for Mo - he's the man!
- #GlobalEntry but flying non #TSAPre airline @Dulles? Go to the Pre gate anyway, they send you (efficiently) through wheelchair gate #ProTip
- Andrew KlingelhoferAugust 19, 2014Domestic checking cut off time is 45 min before departure, international is an hour...be early
- FatimaSeptember 3, 2012People here are incredibly rude and racist - from united premier to premier security. They picked out every single colored person for extra screening + let every white person through.
- Nice. The C/D terminal needs to be rebuilt because it is too small for the huge numbers of passengers using the C/D terminal.
- Vino volo at B gates is a nice wine bar. Menu is better than BA lounge.
- KorenSeptember 7, 201430 minutes to get from economy parking to security + 30 mins to get thru security + 15 mins to get to your gate. Yeah, plan to arrive 2 hours prior to your flight.
- Eduardo MagalhãesMarch 29, 2014Signalisation, geography, and processes are terrible but staff from airport (Security, pass control, etc.) very friendly compensates for the failures in infrastructure.
- Almost forgot about the shuttles from the check in area to terminals. Add 15 minutes so you don't miss your flight!
- ConnieJanuary 27, 2013Hit the 5Guys in the International Terminal. Nicer and less crowded than the one by the A gates.
- More and more IAD travelers are using the Uber Black Car service from Dulles Airport. Get the app at Uber.com
