CarmenSeptember 10, 2015Give more than one hour if you're connecting to US bound flights. They close doors 20 min before advertised take off and you need an extra security check close to the center of the airport.

MertApril 22, 2013x-ray cabines from the year 2079 but still squuezin your body with their "secure" hands (from year 2000 B.C.) . You lose 2 hours of your precious lifetime in this lazy airport. two thumbs down.
To kill time: go outlet shopping near departures/arrivals 1-2 sign, outside of customs. Good deals on designer bags especially if you look carefully.
One of the best airports in Europe, definitely a great location for a stop over!

Loads of food and drink options once you get behind security. Try to check out the Rijksmuseum exhibit while you wait to fly!
Very clean and spacious airport. Budget airlines have their own terminal with less food and shops.

One of THE MOST cleanest restrooms you’ll ever seen in an airport. My god it looked better than a 4 star modern hotel.
If traveling internationally, leave some time for security at the gate. The KLM lounge has good food/drinks but take some time to wonder around this unique airport.

Best airport so far, but very busy. Good shopping, good food, excellent lounge (KLM).
Visit the rijksmuseum outpost and enjoy the kitschy Holland Branding at holland boulevard (terminal E). And don't buy cheese, you stupid!
Great shops inside especially Dutch souvenirs like live Tulip Bulbs!

Waiting times in every line is freaking long! Just to keep the numbers of personnel at minimum to save some from the budget doesn't give you the right to steal from passengers' time!
Do you know you can have 1 hour of free WiFi? Just connect to the Schiphol_Airport_WiFi, go online and accept license. Have fun!
ℋumorousOctober 17, 2010If you have a long layover, take the train into the city and spend a few hours there. Don't be scared it is safe! Take a boat tour, or just have lunch.
Even things that are "not possible" are possible if you can make the hospitable Dutch crack a smile.
Best airport in Europe !!! Do not buy presents in city. You could buy everything here.

StéphanieJuly 17, 2017My fellow cloggies, 3 things to improve: more seating arrangements in the departure area, less cramped and slow customs clearance and waiting 30min for your luggage is not good enough! You can do it!
Come early for departures outside the EU, especially if you're not an EU passport holder. You go through border control first and then security at the gate for most flights. Can be very slow.
