I love the security staff here. The focus on the individual and they interview each person. Much preferred to the bureaucratic meat grinder of the US TSA.
The best transit airport in EU! Period. Free wifi, attentive staff with humor, cleanbathrooms, signage, queuing, sky lounges with nap rooms. And it is in Amsterdam. Need I say more?
If you need to go to near Museumplein or Leidseplein area, don't take a train (which will take you to Central Station), but prefer the bus 197 instead which will take you directly to your destination.

This place is so big and always feels chaotic to me. British Airways check in and Hayes are miles away. Factor in 40 mins to get to your gate, then of course you need another 40 for security.
Never take risk to get to your gate on time, always go to your gate 10-20 minutes earlier just in case because gates could change. Happened to me many times and one time almost missed my flight.
Secret quiet spot: at the far end of section D (gate D87), there are reclined seats, an amazing view of the runways, and NO people. Very odd; very nice.
