If you are going to the U.S. and don't have GOES/Nexus, plan on arriving at least 2 hours early. The US Customs preclearance takes at least an hour of queuing to go through.
If you are @ terminal one and have a gate in the 200's get you walking shoes on. Ten minutes from security.
Getting here 2 hours before is not enough, especially flying Air Canada in the morning.
Relatively cheap place to get water - Tim hortons. $1.50 for 500 mL bottle (at least for the one in terminal 1, gate 66).

Kevin HerringMay 10, 2017Terminal one is a dump. Gate f80-90 has 1 bavle place and not enogh seats. There is one nice section further away with ipads but definately nowhere near my gate.

Grab a coffee on the way to get your baggage. This airport is notoriously slow in getting your bags to you.
Apparently America doesn't open for business until 5am. If you get in early for an early flight, you'll be standing in line for a while. Expect long lines in customs if you're flying to the US.
If you're in Terminal 1, go to David's Tea for a hot or iced bevy before your flight.
Terminal three is going cashless in most restaurants. Be warned!

Here's a tip. Fly through Montreal for US flights if you can...unless you're into sitting in a big empty room waiting for your name to popup on a tiny screen.

Worth hiring a porter. They are usually more helpful than the counter staff.

Your airport is like a Hot Tub Time Machine. It's like flying into East Berlin in the mid 1980's. Dirty, Run Down Communist looking in the area you get you luggage in T-3.... Brutal.

A ToorMay 6, 2012They need more staff at the US security check...... the queue goes for miles and takes forever.... Make sure you allow for plenty of time prior to the flight!
Monorail is closed until October. Pay the $5 extra per day to park in the Daily Park vs. Value Park (Viscount) lot. Broken escalators and waiting for the bus is not worth it.
Make the most of the free wi-fi, you'll be in customs line for at least 2 hours.

Flights to the U.S. from Terminal 3 are much simpler and less crowded than Terminal 1. Delta flights all the way.
