Traveling with kids? Use the family security check! Near the D gates as of Jan 2013. As a mom traveling alone with a baby, the TSA agents went out of their way to help me through.
Dish D'Lish near the main concourse has the best quick breakfast. Avoid Wendy's and Ivar's unless you have 20 minutes to wait for your meal after ordering. Vino Volo is best place for a quiet drink.
Vino Volokh has a great wine sampler option. The chilli was delicious. The atmosphere is relaxing with jazz music. You may spend a lot but it's worth it.
Security usually moves quick, and precheck almost never has a long line. Plan on extra time for N and S terminals. Parking is stupid expensive. Other than that, it’s a solid airport.
Pretty much roamed around every corner of the airport.. Beautiful shops and awesome food!! And the home of Starbucks :) Leaving with so much memories!!
Spot Saver at checkpoint 2 is a godsend. You'll get straight to the front of the TSA line, faster than fast track. And for free too. Google "Sea spot saver".
Pros: free wifi, great food options, very clean and nice decor. Cons: line was really long at north terminal, one of the longest I've seen at an airport on Saturday afternoon. Go early if you can.
If you're taking the train, the tickets are on an honor system. The stations to tap in aren't obvious, so seek one out. You also can't use an orca card for 2 people, so just get two paper passes!
Small joy, but the soap in the bathrooms is my favourite soap in the world! I genuinely look forward to washing my hands here--it just smells so great!
If you have kids: In the B concourse there are fish on the floor. See if your kids can find the ones holding luggage or shaped like a plane. And one of the water fountains has a sound feature.
Spent the night there last night. It gets cold so ask for a blanket. Best place to sleep is behind the ticket wall to keep light and sound out. Stay away from windows. Night crew is very helpful!
Scavenger hunt to kill time: Find the pretty funny and heart-warming mini-exhibit of glass art collaboration near baggage claim 1/international arrivals.
Taxis are super rude. Nearest Uber pickup spot is across the street from the light rail station on 176th. http://lifehacker.com/at-seatac-uberx-is-geofenced-not-to-pick-up-west-of-pa-1653791106
Anthony's between C & B gates is quite delicious and known for great Seafood. Exofficio is an excellent place to shop for adventure gear & apparel. Palisade for dinner
Coming from the link light rail, no need to walk all the way to the airline skybridge if you ate already checked in. It's faster to get to the less busy security checkpoint then get to your terminal.
TSA-Pre is at checkpoint 3 which is at the beginning (Alaska) of airport terminal (united fliers walk long & then again walk back once thru security)...which airlines have most TSA -pre's UA or Alaska
TSA TIP #3 Remove your laptop(s) and shoes/belts while waiting in line for the x-ray machines and carry them in your hands to be ready for the bins, remember laptops are placed in a bin by itself.
Taxi to airport was a white knuckle ride with driver on phone and back end of cab swaying about like billyoh. Get the train if you value your life and it is cheaper 😄
I've travelled out of seatac twice with us airways and alaska. I had great experiences with both airlines. If travelling to seatac from Vancouver i suggest Quick Shuttle $56 is worth
Make sure to listen to the music and announcements which feature 32 local Seattle artists who volunteered as part of the Experience The City of Music program.
You MUST get Clear, walked in with a scary long line at the security check in and walked through the Clear line and was through the line in literally 3 mins.
When taking a dog through security all you'll need to do is take it out of the carrier, carry it through the screener, and they'll swab your hands for residue.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport: There's not much chance you'll miss glimpsing the Seattle Public Library, but it is worth going inside for a closer look
SEA airport makes flying fun. Look for the clowns and jugglers in the main food court. Leave plenty of time for domestic connections if you arrive from overseas.
