Nate SOctober 14, 2018One of the best books stores in the city. There’s a small hidden bathroom downstairs underneath the stairs. You’ll need a quarter to enter, but you can ask the staff for one if you really need to go.

One of the great indie bookstores of New York. They have a coffee shop in one corner of the corner that's a perfect place to start reading the new book you just bought.
Support a local book seller and shop here! They have a load of books (obviously, make sure to make it downstairs), but also a great selection of mags and greeting cards for that last-minute purchase.
This is probably the most positively endorsed place on foursquare (with regard to tips). People like it - and why not? It's a nice coffee shop/bookstore.- Superb selection at this classic independent bookstore, complete with a cafe and that unique smell of coffee, old bookshelves, and new books.

My favorite place in NY. Nicest people, amusing view, best books and awesome cafeteria (love the cappuccino, the bagles and the egg sandwich). Sorry no wifi.

Superb curation of new and notable fiction. Download the Goodreads app so you can scan titles and add them to your list. Good place to visit when you feel your Kindle is just not tactile enough.

Great selection of travel writing and guides, books in Spanish and French, and lots of other categories. You can stay here for hours.

Psss if they're serving pie at the cafe, especially cobbler, don't pass on it. Ask them to warm it up for you.
