They are trying a new TSA precheck system at the Delta terminal and it's quite slow. Allow for extra time if you are there.

Quickest way in to city is AirTrain to Jamaica. Then grab the LIRR to Penn Station - 15 minutes nonstop!

Beware of Delta terminal 3. From the international area exit you have to go to area D at the domestic side to get picked up. It is a confusing, decrepit mess and they need to tear the terminal down.
In JetBlue Terminal 5, skip the foodcourt for breakfast and get a Balthazar croissant at Cibo (gates 1-7) or at the Illy coffee stand (gates 8-21).
One of the top 2 places to catch a commercial flight in the greater NYC area!
If you are traveling rush hour into Manhattan - take the airtrain to LIRR (jamaica) - 25 min transit. Late night,depending on taxi line - take cab. If you're headed downtown, take Williamsburg bridge
It's not my top local choice, but worth it if the carrier and fare are right.
If you're near Gate 27, look for the water bottle filling station!
Even if you have pre-check, expect to still be mistreated BTy the TSA. be forewarned.

Massages and lattes... Who could ask for more. The restaurants and bars aren't half bad either.
May seem intimidating but look for the JFK customer service employees in ties and blazers-- extremely helpful!
If you're in terminal 4, take the elevator down to arrivals (1) for much shorter security lines. Clutch!

Generally an airport to avoid. All international flights have a one hour buffer from the scheduled take off time to the actual time off the runway.

Terminal 5 now has filtered water station by Gate 9, across from the CIBO Express
T5 is simply the best. Get Muji pens and a Jamba Juice.
Easy to get to (kinda) and has some good restaurants.
If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. Also, there are two Peets in the Virgin America terminal past security so there's that.

Still no free wifi. In the 21st century. Get with the times guys. Oh and did I mention, terminal 8 doesn't even have power plugs. Thanks American Airlines!
- Ani JohnsonJuly 13, 2013Plan at least an extra half hour to ride the bus between B and C concourses and bring an umbrella. Bus transfer is not covered bNot efficient transfer service for Delta customers.
Book a car service BEFORE you land. Its not that much more expensive to get to Manhattan. The taxi line at certain times can be brutal.
British airways counter is a mess. Got there 2 1/2 hrs early only to stand in line w/people waiting to checkin for earlier flight and board with 20 min left. Terminal 7 is smaller in comparison to T1.

Bonnie ChenAugust 22, 2014There are not that many food kiosks around gates 30-40. Had to walk all the way to gate 12 for the food court. Thank god I had 3 hrs to spare. Otherwise I would've miss my flight trying to find food.

Best DelegateAugust 28, 2011Looking for a quick, easy, & cheap way into the city? Take the Airtrain to Jamaica then the LIRR to Penn Station. Should take no more than 40 minutes.
You don’t need to be here as early as people say you need to. Especially, if you’re not checking bags.
