Yayan LiuFebruary 15, 2013Airport shuttle to grand central is never on time. Got on 630 ride at 7:17. Don't understand why we had to wait outside when coordinator had a walkie talkie and can tell when bus is actually coming
When boarding your flight to Europe, buy a couple bottles at duty free! Then be sneaky and drink them on the plane...it helps pass the time!
I'm not sure why do we have to do our finger prints twice, one at the kiosk, another at the officer desk
Don't even attempt to hail a Lyft here during rush hour. Drivers will attempt to talk you out of the ride and insist that you cancel via the app.

BSeptember 29, 2019My least favorite airport. We had a connecting flight here and after going thru security at BWI we had to go thru security again at terminal 1. We almost missed our flight because of this.

Great airport but if you don't live near it, it's terrible getting too and from.
The Final Destination airplane freak out joke almost always ends badly. Terrified plane travelers tend to lose their sense of humor at zero thousand feet. Be warned, airport cops will beat you.
This place can be chaotic.. When leaving and getting transportation make sure you go to a cab stand there will be people trying to solicit you.
Forced to backtrack thru security lineups to get to the subway, carry luggage up & down stairs, walk a mile to reach the arrivals lobby... If there were some customer experience metric, JFK's an F--.

Terminal 8 doesn't have a lot of food options after security. TSA checkpoint is a disaster the last few times with long lines. Get pre-check of available. Gates are about 5 minute walk from security.
Terminal 8 has a Cibo- great place to stock up on healthy food (like sugarsnap peas, hummus, watermelon, soba noodles...) before a log flight.
If you have a Mastercard (from any bank) you can stsy at MC lounge. They have free WiFi for cardholders.
When arriving on an int'l flight (T1) & have TSA-PRE, do NOT follow the signs for a connection. TSA does not staff TSA-PRE at that connection area. Take the train to your terminal instead.
Bennett BontaJuly 21, 2012Bring a pillow and a news paper to sit on if you're doing a super early flight, security is closed from 12 to 3am so you'll be waiting on the floor till they open. Fml.
Avoid private hire car drivers lingering near Taxi stands. Can cost almost twice as much, and the Taxi stand line moves pretty fast.

If Shake Shack is on your itinerary, consider avoiding the queues and eating at their terminal 4 outpost!

If you miss a flight, get on standby for the next one then rush through security to the gate for your original flight. If there's a delay, they may be able to get you back on.
Many good food and coffee options available before 6 a.m.

T4 is the best because there are two shake shacks past security.
Probably the best experience I've ever had with JFK just now here at air France. No lines, everyone beyond friendly. I almost forgot I was in ny.
$7.25 is still the best price to get into manhattan. Take the train. Ur in the best transit hub in the states.

Rob BAugust 28, 2013Only food court I found outside of the security zone is in Terminal 1. Be careful which AirTrain you get on, too. Be sure to take the All Terminals train.
Put everything from your pockets in your carry on before going through security.
