Duty free shopping was born in Ireland (Shannon Airport). This airport looks like a mall with a variety of shops selling everything from liquor to Apple computers, all duty free for non EU travelers.
There is a grocery shop at near the bus station exit if you wan't to grab some sandvich, drinks or pick up cash from the euro atm. Go to bus stop 277 if you want to get to the city centre.
Currently under construction & quite confusing. Few staff to help. If you are traveling to the states, get food bf going through security as there is very little with long lines by the 400 gates in T2
If using the Airbus to the city centre... It's well worth getting your ticket online before hand, the queue in the terminal is slow and the buses currently don't accept card payment
Different terminals have different features. It can get confusing if your BA flight is operated by Aer Lingus or the other way around. Be sure you check your departing terminal in advance.
We have loved ireland! Wrote all about it at travelwithbender.com upstairs at the airport is a maccas playground. Amuse the kids & spend those left over euros.
make sure to show up a bit earlier than usual if you're flying from Dublin to the US. You go through US customs in Dublin which means going through security twice.
Go there by Taxi! The airlink busses are full on weekends and won't stop sometimes. Taxis are waiting at the airlink bus stops so you Van share one car.
Uber is the same as regular taxis, except you prepay through the app instead. Go to Parking Lot 18 to pick one up. Dublin doesn’t seem to have a very good shared ride system.
Tidy airport. Free wifi. Pre clearance is the best part so give yourself time. Also I didn't like the food selection post security so I picked up food pre security. It's on the 2nd floor.
VAT refund is after security and before U.S. preclearance. It's near the bathroom in the right side of the main concourse. If you went down the escalator you already passed it.
Take bus 16 to the city, tickets cost £3.05 on the bus and £2.90 from the machine which is where the bus stops. Free wifi on the bus and friendly driver.
If you’re traveling to the US directly, give yourself extra time as this is one of only 2 places in Europe that does US customs before you fly. We missed our flight as a result of how long it took.
Be sure you arrive with enough time. Usually, queues to pass control are long and you could need up to 20 mins. to get in. Free WiFi available in all the airport.
Bus 102 goes straight to Sutton train station for 2.65€. You'll have to look for it a little bit in the public bus stop, it's the second row on the right towards the "back".
Pre clearance works well landed, bus to the terminal and through sitting in the lounge in 45 mins, lounge is pretty basis and not a great deal of choice.
If you are traveling to the states, there is double security to navigate and you have to fill out a customs form before getting on a plane. Arrive early to avoid stress.
Be sure you don't have any jam with you, as they will take it away, although it's in gramms! P.S. they took away the jam from Kylemore that we have bought for our lovely granny ;(
The new security screening machines seem to be doing their job, but your bags are still picked for random checks and you are likely to encounter a random body search, which never happened before.
Allow plenty of extra time when traveling on aer lingus! Long queue lines for baggage drop off, check in and then security. You need at least 1.5 hrs once at airport!
Lounges are before the US customs but after general security, so make sure you have plenty of time until boarding if you are going to chill out in the lounge.
Terminal 2 is better than terminal1. The security takes a long long time. Good cafes and shops available. Gates 201-220 is one way. If your gate is not there then don't venture there.
