The best ramen contender to Ippudo. The Mu Ramen has a unique beef and bone marrow broth, throw on a poached egg. The U and I is an awesome rice bowl with uni, salmon roe, and spicy tuna.
Superb food! Pretty much tried everything except specials in 3 visits, everything is worth reordering. Spicy miso is fave, add egg and pork jowl. Also U&I, okonomiyaki, charred edamame - all great!!
Oh. My. God. I lived in Japan for a year and I've eaten a lot of amazing ramen and it takes a lot to impress me and wow! This place impressed me. Just go. The $17 chicken wings are worth it.
Some of the best ramen I’ve ever had!! Better than Totto and Ippudo. Apps are creative but can be hit or miss, but they truly nail the ramen. Tonkatsu is creamy and the pork itself just falls apart 🏆
Delicious ramen, cute and modern decor, and the food is served on beautiful ceramic plates and bowls. Get the grilled edamame to start (it's perfectly tangy and addictive) and then tonkotsu w/ an egg.
Joshua Smookler’s two-year-old ramen shop serves one of the best tonkotsu broths around. Beyond ramen, Mu also offers some high minded plates, like dry-aged Japanese Wagyu beef specials. Read more
They're really innovative. Each dish is filled with complex flavors and I love every bit over it. You can't go wrong with anything here. Get all the treats & a ramen, it makes an amazing tasting menu!
Chef Smookler serves an elaborate and labor intensive chicken dish. The Tebasaki Gyoza is a deboned wing stuffed with a generous hunk of foie gras, brioche chunks, and a quince paste. Two for $17. Read more
The Tonkotsu 2.0 ramen is The Best NYC ramen. Josh Smookler = culinary genius. Tonkotsu ramen with tontoro (pork jowl), kikurage, menma, sesame & scallions. Add an onsen tamago. Save room for kaedama.
The tonkatsu remains my favorite. I also like to start off with the edamame and another app -- sometimes the fried chicken and others, the sammy. Arrive early to avoid a wait.
We had U&I, mussels, tonkontsu ramen and the spicy ramen. Uni is yummy with rice, salmon roes and seaweed. The noodles cooked perfectly, yummy broth not too salty, great place for quick meal in LIC
This place is really really good. The oxtail and bone marrow broth is so complex and noodles are chewy. Get the pork jowl no matter what. It is so tender. Appetizers are only ok! Lots of Jap beers!
I'm not a big fan of noodle soup but so glad I came here! Ox Tail Ramen on the left w/ Apple juice & Spicy Miso on the right. Both was amazing!! And my friend really enjoyed her apple juice.
The Mu Ramen at Mu Ramen is great but very different. One of the few beef based ramen in NYC. Very hearty, beefy. With toppings that bring to mind a light corned beef sandwich.
Realllly delicious ramen, the broth is spot on, the noodles are perfectly al dente. Got the U + I and the spicy miso. Only 14 seats bc it's only a duo that's running the show. So eat here, k?
Tonkotsu ramen is definitely a treat, the soft and succulent pork jowls in there is unforgettable. Treat yoself and get 2 orders of the foie wings. The U & I is okay, skipping it ain't end of e world.
Best bowl of tonkotsu ramen I've had in NYC yet. Get the foie gras stuffed chicken wings, uni, and okonomiyaki. The chef/owners are so kind. Love this place.
Get the Okonomiyaki ($16), it's grilled Japanese cabbage pancake covered by trout, poppy tobiko pearls, shiso-bud microgreens, foie gras, and a drizzle of foie-maple syrup. Read more
This Long Island City joint serves the city's best tonkotsu. The result is a silky, chowder-like mouthfeel, and a richness level that doesn't make you feel terrible when you're finished.
Don't bother with the U&I (I've had fresher). The tonkatsu was great and the spicy miso the best I've ever had. Don't forget to top them with a soft boiled egg.
Amazing staff. Amazing food. Here is how you order 1. U&I - the uni bowl is out of the world. 2. You are really hungry? Get the fried chicken. 3. Tonkatsu with a egg is the way to go.
The Mu ramen is amazing, although the owner told me it is not actually their signature ramen...since it is an oxtail broth it's a play on the sound "moo" a cow makes. Sometimes they have sea urchin.
Edamame is a must order. The pancake in "treats" section great for sharing. Highly recommend the Mu Ramen - has a great bone marrow and oxtail soup base!
Mu Ramen is definitely a trendy, and lively place. The ramen was awesome, but the wait was +45 minutes. Sitting style is bench, good for dates who don't mind being next to others.
Completely lives up to the hype & worth the wait. The tonkotsu broth is perfect with Chasu that was perfectly cooked. So glad to have ramen-ya shop in the neighborhood. (Ps: still cash only)
I'll be honest. Having been many times, I've always been the #1 advocate for Ippudo... until today. Mu Ramen is the best ramen in NYC, with influences from RamenLab and Ippudo, I was left speechless
The hype is real. We visited last night. The wait was 1 hour but the waitress was fantastic in keeping us updated. Food was absolutely wonderful, both my guests loved it. Will be returning.
The ramen broth blew my mind, with every slurp. I've read so much about the treats, the fried chicken with foie gras, the scallion pancake but they both were underwhelming.
Come early to put your name on the list. Shisito peppers, short rib buns, and spicy miso ramen are highlights. Feels kinda like a "chef's table" without a $100 price tag. Best dining experience in LIC
Call at 3 to get a reservation, they do allow walking for an hour when they open. Great for small groups or dates. Just order everything. Best Ramen in NYC.
Great tonkotsu ramen. They have the best egg add ons. Also I think the tebasaki gyoza (fried chicken wings stuffed with foie gras) almost out shined the ramen.
Great ramen, but the service and price leaves a bad taste in your mouth. You will feel rushed like you are eating in a ramen factory. E.g. They give you the bill without asking.
Walked in with no reservation on Tuesday. Wait 25 mins and grabbed a good jap wheat beer. Pork meat in tonkutsu 2.0 cooked to deliciously melt when eaten. Found UI decent. Need more veg options tho.
Uni was fresh but doesn't hit the spot like the egg on egg at sakamai. Fried chicken and okonomiyaki were both too sweet for me. The ramen is pretty much perfect. More people waiting than seats. Ridic
