It's the best place to finally earn bragging rights for trying the balut, or digging into the spicy Bicol Express pork stew simmered with coconut milk, shrimp paste, and plenty of long chiles. Read more
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food! Can get busy during dinner, especially on weekends. The choir burger is a must try. Kamayan night is a lot of fun if you're a party of 4 (min).
Get the garlic rice instead of plain. It's worth the extra $. Kamayan (eating with hands-no utensils) is $45/person (as of July 2014), 4 people minimum, choose 2 apps & 3 ulam (entrées). Thumbs up 👍
Count me as another staunch advocate for the Chori Burger. The fries are kinda interesting at first, but not my favorite. Doesn’t matter. Come solo on a weeknight and sit at the bar, and feel good.
Truly insane and delicious experience eating with your hands with your friends. Chicken with peanut sauce, head-on shrimp, mussels, pork ribs, sausage, bok choy over rice A+
On Wednesdays and Thursdays you can reserve a spot for their kamayan dinners, where you'll eat a king’s bounty of Filipino dishes like chicharron, longanisa sausage, and ribs served on banana leaves. Read more
Banana ketchup glazed spare ribs were tender, great flavor and a little kick. We ordered the special, deep fried snapper and it was delicious. Garlic rice- you can never go wrong.
10/10 We came with no res. on a kamayan night, but the staff was so accommodating and sat us at the bar (full menu available). Sabrina, the bartender, was a joy to meet- super knowledgeable + friendly
All the dishes are bursting with bold flavor. Come on a Wed or Thurs with a group of friends for Kamayan Night and eat everything with you hands. Read about my visit on WinstonWanders below!! Read more
Kamayan night is a must! Prix fixe for min 4p, book ahead.Party gets 2 apps, 3 entrees, rice, salad, longanisa and dessert. Fair warning, this is family style, served on banana leaves, no utensils!FUN
This laidback Filipino spot is great for boozy outdoor brunch in their backyard patio with unlimited mimosas. Their Filipino breakfast plates and egg-topped Chori burger are the perfect hangover cure
The Chori Burger: TIME OUT just gave it the Best Burger in NYC. It was delicious but not the best. Whitman's, Brindle Room, and even Shake Shack provide a more satisfying mouth-splosion.
This place is the absolute bomb. The ribs, the burger, the whole fish - order it all. Great service, unpretentious guests. This place is fantastic. The burger with the egg might be NYs finest.
Not for the faint of heart or fit minded. Fried food galore. Come with a group of 6 and go nuts ordering from the menu. Highlights: garlic rice, ribs, beef spring rolls, bone marrow, fried fish
Sit in the garden on a nice night. You feel like you are on vacation! I don't care for sweet cocktails, but the tropical drinks were surprisingly delicious. Great for dinner with the girls or mom!
Come for kamayan night! The hands eating feast. Reservations made online and at least a few days ahead. It's a great, tasty memorable event with friends.
When you get there do not forget...Pancit Malabok Negra - palabok noodles in squid ink & shrimp romesco with calamari, oysters, scallops, baby octopus, tinapa, hard boiled farm & chicharron Read more
Wtf. What. How did I not discover this place sooner.Amazing Filippino food, funny manager, & great bartender. Get the bone marrow, crab fat fried rice w spam, diniguan, cheese icecream, ube milkshake!
I loved this place - for main meal I had the wonderful Chori Burger!! They don't have a liquor license as of now so bring your own "water" bottle to mix with your fruit drinks. I will be back!!
Small but exceptional place. Fantastic atmosphere. Hard to get a place on weekends. You could always look for empty bar stools and squeeze in. Staff is warm and courteous - they know the food.
My new go to spot for Filipino food in the East Village. Bar in the front and seating in the back. They're opening their garden in May. Check out the raunchy picture in the back. :X
Mix the Katipunan dishes with some of Jeepney’s Pinoy gastropub standbys, like Manila clams blasted with lemongrass and garlic or the pork-and-beef-blood stew known as dinuguan. Read more
The specials were amazing .... Giant adobo shrimp and blue crabs ... Regular menu items of tamale and pork shoulders a must! Definitely coming back soon to try out the rest of the menu.
Rice noodles with shrimp, calamari and pork skin $15 and garlic rice with a fried egg on side. Douse liberally with chilli vinegar. Skip adobo shrimp $17 for 5 over cooked pieces.
Kamayan definitely! It's fun to share food with you family and friends while eating with you hands barbarian style Lol! Definitely will come back and try other food in the menu
Bicol Express pork shoulder is fanned out, marinated in chilies and spices, rolled up again, and slow cooked for 6 hours with amazeballs coconut sambal, everything sauce. Mind. Blown
The Chori Burger is delightfully messy: Jufran (a spicy Filipino ketchup made with mashed bananas) and Kewpie mayo (a Japanese version with umami-boosting MSG) drips over the charred half-pounder. Read more
Staff couldn't be nicer. Bicol, pancit malabok negra, and garlic rice are great, but the champorado & jeprox takes the cake. Don't be scared - you want dried fish in your chocolate pudding, promise.
Loved the Jeprox Salad, Bicol Express & the Pancit Malabok Negra. For dessert, try the Cascaron. The service was top notch. Our server, Natalie, was always attentive. Definitely coming back!
The banana barbecue ribs are one of the best things to happen to the fruit since Foster got ambitious back in the day. Also loved the whole market fish.
Huge portions, good atmosphere, great cocktails! Banana ketchup ribs, lumpia, and sisig tacos were crowd pleasers. I was not impressed with the chori burger or short rib stew which were overcooked.
If you do Kamayan night, definitely get the banana ketchup ribs. I also liked the bicol express (the sauce was the best part) and adobong hipon (shrimp). Skip the kare kare chicken. Bland and boring
In addition to serving Filipino-inspired gastropub cuisine, Jeepney offers groups a chance to participate in Kamayan Night: a hands-only feast for the daring.
Have the cascaron for dessert--glutinous rice flour doughtnuts filled with jackfruit, ube, or chocolate. Then wash them down with the nutty Cubao X beer cocktail. Mabuhay!
A little pricey is you're a solo eater. Massive serving size though. Had pork sinigang. Taste was slightly compromised and lacks the kick! Can be improved with more tamarind broth & less onions.
