Do the entertaining tour with a hilarious guide. While the library itself was interesting, my Harry Potter mad daughter was jumping out of her skin with the film-related trivia.
Amazing place with the ability to show layers of history and make you empathise with the Romans despite the 2,000 years that have past. Love the humanity of the Roman curses described in such detail.
Found myself laughing out loud at the Jane Austen quotes throughout the museum. Dress ups and writing with a quill was a hit with the kids. Engaging staff.
Interesting history of the city and the Holy Roman Empire described in both German and English. The deep well demonstration is one for the kids and worth the extra cost.
Large well equipped rooms, pool in the basement and a roof deck to look at the city. 5 min walk to the Hauptmarkt. Highly recommended.

Great picnic spot with a good playground. Prefect spot for the kids to play in and by the river. Make sure they bring their swimmers and a towel.
A joy. This museum is beautiful and without pretension. There are a number of works that focus on kids and so they will enjoy the place as much as you do. Go out of your way to see it.
Beautiful walk through the forest to get to a very close encounter with lots of monkeys. It is worth the very steep climb. There were lots of baby monkeys (born April to July)
Sat here looking at the beautiful forest covered hillside across the river. Good food, very quick service, good value for money. A little away from most tourists which made it much more pleasant.
Enormous and impressive building with a 73 ton bell. There is also access to the Kyoto trail up into the hills at the back of the complex. Opens at 7 and there are no tourists at that time.

Shop is good value and avoids the kitsch stuff in the commercial shops. Museum has very old and beautiful glass items. If in Murano don't miss it
Fascinating fossils and excellent presentation of the collection including the traditional 19th century presentation for some of the animal collections. Great for kids tired of art.
Go to the glass museum - it is worth the trip and the glass for sale in the shop is much better value and a lot more elegant than the kitsch stuff in the other commercial shops. Otherwise go to Venice
Go there before 8 in the morning or after 10pm to appreciate the square without hordes of other tourists (just quite a lot of them)
