- Uber NYCMarch 28, 2013The best cocktail bar in EV. Decor & atmosphere are phenomenal. Pricey, but worth every penny if you're trying to impress. Try on a weeknight to avoid the wait.
- Badriyah ZuubeckJanuary 6, 2012bartenders are def alcohol scientist! and the food is amazing, I was raving about how amazing the food the mini burgers and the steak and asparagus wow! my mouth was exploding
- TiffanyNovember 17, 2014Drinks are fantastic! Only issue is that it is very dark inside. Very dark. One of my guests had a issues with his sight due to the excessive low light and basically drank blind all night.
- Time Out New YorkOctober 5, 2011Try the Sweet Hereafter. Swapping in pisco for gin, barkeep Joachim Simo takes the straightlaced martini for a sultry Latin American spin. It’s one of our #100best dishes and drinks of 2011. Read more
- Damon SununtnasukApril 21, 2017A little bit on its high horse. The Manhattan looked good. The Negroni was too small and weak. Nice speakeasy atmosphere and glassware
- Simon LafontDecember 17, 2015You have to wait but you have a seating place for sure. The big cocktails was really good and strong. Very nice service.
- Princess Abigail BacaniJanuary 23, 2013A storefront on E 6th with wooden panels in place of windows. Death & Co. is printed on metal out front. Give your number to the bouncer at the door. He’ll call you when you can come inside.
- Emily KaneJanuary 5, 2016Worth the wait for a fun experience. Your out of town friends will be impressed with this place.
- Michael MaysMarch 15, 2022If you aren’t sure what to order, ask the bartender or server for recommendations and tasting notes. They are well versed in their craft!
- NoviDecember 11, 2019Def a date spot! if you get lucky on a monday, rainy night then there’s no waiting 👌🏻
- Alexandros PlexidasMay 4, 2016Mostly enjoyed the music selection in this bar. Low light atmosphere, good cocktails and no issue finding a seat on a Sunday evening.
- Eliza KNovember 8, 2013Another great speak easy style bar, put your name in with the guy standing outside. Walk around the village a little until they call you.
- Olivia SlutskyApril 28, 2016Delicious cocktails. Warm, cozy vibes. It can take some time to get in but it's worth the wait.
- They're great! If you're indecisive, ask for the bar tenders choice! They do no wrong. Just give a little info and they'll bring out a GREAT drink (ie what kind of alcohol, sweet, bitter, etc).
- René LePaulJuly 27, 2016One of the best bars in the country. Cocktails made to PERFECTION! Hotel California is my fave!
- Rafi RomeroMay 19, 2017favorite drinks from my 3rd visit: Dead Language and (all of the following off-menu) Strange Encounters, Warrior Poet, Part-time Lover
- Tudor LeuMay 15, 2012You will probably have to put your name on the list at the door and wait for a while for a call, but it's worth it. The best cocktails in NYC; I've never had a bad drink there.
- Serious EatsSeptember 13, 2013Excellent cocktails here in a studiously quiet setting, but be prepared for waits up to several hours long.
- Alexandria McGrathJune 26, 2018The menu at this influential bar includes punches, juleps, drinks made with Spanish spirits, and plenty of whiskey-based cocktails.
- Chase CarrollMarch 26, 2015This place knows it's cocktails. The entire atmosphere is fantastic. Be sure not to miss the Oaxaca Old Fashioned.
- Fantastic cocktails, can't be passed over. Look out for the lack of a double door set up. Brutal draft every time someone enters or exits in the winter.
- FACOctober 14, 2010I tried the Double barrel julep and the Pendennis club cocktail when I was there on my first night in NYC from STL. EXCELLENT! No need to say any more - except "JUST GO".
- Bartender's choice is always best. Describe your desired flavor profile and spirit and you will get the drinks of your dreams.
- BravoNovember 22, 2010Where to find the "Manhattan Hipster." Delicious cocktails. Yummy munchies and a sexy, swanky design décor. With every penny, ahem $20, great for date night! -Jacqueline Lombard, Top Chef
- Andy ReinhardOctober 3, 2012Cocktails are great but also try the small plate apps. Sashimi is amazing as are the pork belly and short rib sliders.
- Ranu RajkarnikarDecember 2, 2014The cocktails are pretty good, but even cooler is the vibe. Great music playing and a dark, cozy space.
- Warning: once you have a cocktail here, you will no longer settle for poorly made drinks. Bartenders are some of the best in the world. If there is a wait list, get on it & head over to Vandaag.
- Rafi RomeroMay 19, 2017go bartender's choice. tell them your favorite flavor profile and they will deliver. if you try to guess on your own from the menu you might be disappointed
- SonjaSeptember 19, 2013Try the heart shaped box. It's a brandy cocktail- refreshing but not too sweet. One of the best cocktails I've had!
- Jeremy AndrusJuly 21, 2012Well worth the wait. The cocktails are amazing, and the whiskey is superb: Jekyll and Hyde!
- Vicki MMarch 15, 2015The cocktails are exceptional. Worth being put on the wait list and coming back for the experience.
- ginnnnnnny 🦀February 28, 2018Good cocktail and good atmosphere but nothing that stands out. Will be my first alternative if I can’t get into PDT or Angel’s Share...
- Be prepared to wait, but the cocktails are worth it! Their whiskey section is to die for.
- Stephanie ZhongOctober 29, 2014Dimly lit atmosphere. Often plays danc-ey music. Cocktails are very good (but nothing too memorable). If you really want to carry a good convo, go to milk and honey instead
- Honghui YuNovember 25, 2018Delicious and inventive cocktails but hard to get in especially in a weekend night.
- AmateurConciergeAugust 20, 2015Drinks are good, not great. Vibe is lively speakeasy. Crowd is whoever will wait (often A-Cityers). A/C is lacking in the summer. There are better cocktail spots, but D&C deserves its rep and history
- Chet ManciniApril 11, 2015Lots of seating, great decor, and one of the best cocktail menus in the city.
- Willem Van LanckerAugust 24, 2015Quintessential speakeasy — long waits, pricey drinks, dark interior. Feels more like a winter spot (read: it has no windows) for a date than anything else.
- Yera HaOctober 17, 2015You can't go wrong with the bartender's choice. Just be sure you know your "flavor profile."
- Michael WuOctober 6, 2013The Blessed William is my favorite cocktail of the year. For fans of peaty scotches.

- Dilara CumhurOctober 1, 2016Amazing cocktails, need to sign up in couple hours in advance. Classic speakeasy experience
- Maria Del RussoFebruary 25, 2012Fantastic place to go for your first drink of the night. Go early and with a small group - they can't accommodate a party larger than 7.
- Zohreen AdamjeeMay 17, 2011Mac & cheese is amazing and served beautifully (picture doesn't do justice) & French 95 is good for a dude drink
