The menu here is based on the Southern diner tradition of ordering your meat dish with 3 sides. A rotating selection of dishes includes the famed fried chicken, baby back ribs, and country ham steak. Read more
This place is excellent. I am not one to get the same thing every time I go to a restaurant but the Shrimp and Cheesy grits are amazing. I get it every time. Service is awesome as well.
This is a great spot to drop in for a lunch and very popular to boot. Make sure to try the Fried chicken with three sides. For dessert got for the Hot apple-berry Cobbler with ice cream. Read more
Cute little place serving tasty Soul Food. Their fried chicken is awesome and also their oysters. Don't get put off by the waiting line, it goes quite quickly. Love the Big Momma's Chicken Sandwich.
I had an amazing pork belly special with cheese grits, onion jam and a freekin poached egg. WOW it was rich but so good. Go closed to 2:00 to avoid a super long line.
Dude, if you come here, you'd better be ready to EAT! Nothing bad on the menu, but I'm partial to the fried chicken, mac and cheese, and peach and blueberrycobbler (pictured).
No wait for a Sunday dinner. Cutelesbians everywhere dishing out friendly service, delicious food and a surprisingly hip beverage selection in a perfectly appointed space. Zero complaints.
You seriously need to order the corn succotash omelette with the cheese grits and biscuit (with the fried chicken cutlet and sausage gravy on the side). You're welcome.
The biscuits and gravy with the chicken cutlet are to die for. The people are super, and every bite of every dish is delectable! The only downside is their limited bar selection.
This popular spot serves hardcore Southern faves like biscuits and gravy, ham and eggs, and sweet potato pancakes that acolytes see in their dreams. Get there early! Read more
The biscuits and gravy is a must try. You get 2 eggs of any style and I chose poached. Add fried chicken breast for $5. It was a perfect Sunday brunch.
The second location of the "Brenda's" family, from the owners of Brenda's on Polk, Meat & Three serves up delicious (and heavy/rich) dishes to long lines on the weekend—shorter lines during the week.
Beignets were amazing and HUGE. Also, biscuits and gravy + fried chicken = heaven! The wait isn't as long as it's sister restaurant but they only seat full parties.
Head to Brenda's French Soul's brand new spinoff for lunch. They'll be serving po'boys with your choice of fried shrimp, fried oysters, or fried catfish. Just in time for fattening up for winter Read more
A thick slice of fried Saag’s bologna ($8.25) is generously layered with pimento cheese and tucked into a toasted bun. This sandwich is one of those things that is so wrong but, really, so so right.
I came for brunch and enjoyed the food here more than the original Brenda's! Was looking forward to the crawfish beignet but sadly they don't have them on the menu here.
