New favorite bahn mi in the city, just delicious. Cub Classic is utterly amazing, with superb BBQ pork, pate, perfectly toasted bread (+ jalepenos). Notice how many quality adjectives were used?
Unlike some other lemongrass chicken banh mis I've had the one at Xe May was perfectly tender and juicy. The "Hog" was also packed with flavor. They got the art of toasting bread down to a T!
Really good sandwiches. Iced Vietnamese coffee and limeade were bad, we agreed. It’s inside the building on the left of the album cover to Led Zeppelin’s “Physical Graffiti”
Sidecarbeefbahn misandwich extra spicy on wheat. Very good and only $13 with drink & kind bar. Got it for takeout during covid they seemed sanitary, had a plexiglass wall & contactless payment.
super cub classic was top notch. My only wish is that their taco offerings incorporated Mexican style meats eg. A Vietnamese version of an al pastor spit would be incredible.
Meat lovers - please please please get the Cub Classic, and make it spicy. It's definitely not a traditional bahn mi but that's what makes it even better.
Super sub classic aka banh mi dac biet. As blasphemous as it feels to verbally order a super sub here, I really enjoyed the sandwich. 7-8 bucks for a sandwich, cash only. Take it Togo.
Had 'The "Hog"', very tastey. Small seating, friendly staff - next time trying the "Super Cub Classic". Totally paid twice once on seamless, then again on p/u. They called me right after to refund.
Xe May puts has an eccentric take on bahn mi... so eccentric that they're mixing grilled beefsteak with pineapplechutney to create the tasty "Sidecar." Read more
I had the superclub classic banh mi which was good, but not amazing like some of the banh mirestaurants in Chinatown. Also I wish the bread had been taken out earlier.
