There are always cheaper prices. For the fruit sessions I would wait for the late hours, then it comes cheaper. ( as a side effect the good ones are sold )
Head there during the mess that is the last market hour of Saturday (2pm-3pm) and get a great deal on fresh produce. $2 per BOX of avocados, anyone? Looks like we're having guacamole!
Love the QVM! Stay well clear of Pide BreadBakery though: unsanitary food handling and storage, unqualified staff and a general disgrace to its location.
The Queen Victoria Market is a major landmark in Melbourne, Australia, and at around seven hectares is the largest open air market in the Southern Hemisphere.
This place is food heaven. I just wanted to cry from happiness being surrounded by all the fresh food. So cheap too. Why does Melb gave the best market. C'mon Sydney!
Buy all your kitschysouvenirs here as everywhere else in Australia is many times more expensive! The price difference is holy crap astonishingly huge. Oh the woes of being tourists...
A much loved cultural and historic treasure, Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market is the largest open air market in the Southern Hemisphere. The fresh food offering, abundance of stall holders and cosmopolitan atmosphere has endeared the Market to locals and tourists for over 130 years.
