I have been to this place 3x and I can say that it's highly commercialized now more than ever. On the plus side, it made the area well maintained and it's a happy place now. Good music, delish food.
The #1 attraction in Bacolod, although certainly does not come close to the Taj Mahal as advertised, it's a beautiful spot during sunset and a nice place to relax with a book on the lawn.
Afternoon turning dusk-that is the best time to visit this place. Not only will it save you from the sun's heat but also you'll get to see the lights that showcase the beauty of this place at night.
Tip from Spibo Boracay: Dubbed the Taj Mahal of the Philippines, The Ruins are what remains of a mansion built by Don Mariano Lacson for his Portuguese wife. It was burned by guerillas before the War
Go there before sunset so you can see the sunset there it's breathtaking plus it's romantic if you are with the one you love. The tour guide ROGER is AMAZINGLY ENTERTAINING!
Very organized esp in queuing for the toilet use and in paying for tickets. Very commercialized (they never had tickets before), but it's a beautiful place and it's worth the entrance fee.
Best time to visit is just before the sun sets as the reddish light highlights it best, and stay on until a few minutes after to see the dramatic lighting.
Around Talisay area in Bacolod? Never miss this heritage site! It was built in 1920's (not sure though) and during world war, the Ruins, which was actually a mansion built for a beloved, was burned.
There's a cafe in the back with aircon :) and really good pizza, try the Mirene ( anchovypesto) and the Marilori (chorizo) PHP 90-240. And sangria. Great for the sunset :)
There's a glass table standing somewhere in the middle. You might wonder what it is for. :) purpose is to create a reflection of the photo subject standing with the Ruins in the background.
Aside from the historical and cultural significance of the place, they have a cafe that serves delicious heirloom food! Try their foccacia with herbs served with Parmesan cheese, olive oil and Balsami
this is an awesome place! just got annoyed by the taxi and tricycle drivers who charged us high fare for a short distance. this should be regulated to attract more visitors.
