Pimm’s number 1 cup was so named by james pimm in 1823. he owned a series of oyster bars in central London & came up w/ an in-house concoction that was served w/ fruit & topped w/ lemon soda. It is a long cocktail to enjoy by the water on a warm English summers day.
A quintessentially English cocktail which is just perfect for summer. An elderflower sherbert is a long tall drink desgined to quench your thirst & stimulate the senses. London gin mixed w/ elderflower & offset w/ sharp lemon juice then topped off w/ soda water. The botanical flavours of this superb artisan gin get a boost from the elderflower. Delicate, refreshing & long.
this cocktail was invented during the vodka craze of the 1940’s by john g martin of the cock & bull tavern in los angeles. It is a classic mixture of three flavours which perfectly compliment each other & the vodka gives the drink its ‘mule’ kick. the dash of angostora bitters adds a piquant orange flavour.

Sweet wines from this area have been made for at least the last two millennia, but the appellation beaumes de venise is in the rhone region of france & only got its aoc status in 1945. it is made by adding pure grape spirit to the must when it has reached 5% alcohol. It should be drunk as young as possible, lightly chilled, either as an aperitif, w/ or after dessert. Golden colour, grapey floral fragrance, intense sweetness that is suprising. A really special dessert wine.
