Programs and Classes
General Fitness
Fitness Assessments & Workout Programs are provided to every member as part of their club experience. We encourage the use of these free services in setting fitness goals & ensuring proper use of our fitness equipment. Hills members receive these free services at the beginning of their membership, & every three months there after.
General Fitness: Workout Program
Your customized Workout Program is fun & free! Whether you’re a beginning exerciser or a seasoned pro just looking for a few new ideas, let one of our Certified Personal Trainers create a workout for you. Using information obtained from your Health History form, your Fitness Assessment, & what you’ve told us about your exercise history & fitness goals, your trainer will show you proper strength training technique using resistance machines, free weights, stability tools, or whatever tools are appropriate for you. During the workout, your trainer will demonstrate proper technique, adjust the equipment to the settings right for you, & recommend an amount of weight as well as the number of sets & repetitions. All of this information will be recorded on a card for you. Your workout card is filed on the fitness floor where you have access to it each time you visit the club. Your trainer will also discuss the importance of a proper warm-up, cool-down, & will demonstrate some stretching techniques if you’d like. These items are essential for helping to stay injury-free!
General Fitness: Fitness Assessments
Fitness Assessments are free to members every three months. We recommend that you have a Fitness Assessment performed before starting your new workout program. Assessments are performed by one of our Certified Personal Trainers & last about an hour. At your initial Assessment, we discuss your goals, prior exercise experience, health history, injuries, any limitations, & other pertinent information. We then perform some or all of the assessments depending upon their appropriateness for you. The results will provide you w/ a baseline measurement of your fitness level. Some of the assessments we offer include: resting heart rate & blood pressure, body weight, body composition, circumference measurements, aerobic capacity (VO2 max), muscular strength & endurance, & flexibility testing.
We also recommend that you perform free follow-up assessments approximately every three months. Follow-up assessments compare your results to previous results & provide feedback regarding your progress in each fitness category. Being able to see & track your progress is highly motivating! Our new Assessment software allows us to track & graph your results & your progress over time, as well as print comprehensive reports for your records.
Group Fitness Classes
Our group fitness classes include a variety of muscle & heart-pumping formats to keep your mind & body stimulated & strong!
Cycling Classes
Get ready to be transformed! As you climb & sprint your way through one of our indoor cycling sessions, you’ll increase endurance, boost your energy, blast major calories & jump-start your metabolism.
Pilates Classes
Pilates may be the best-kept secret in fitness. By training the body as a whole, not in independent parts, our complimentary* studio classes will sculpt a longer, leaner looking body, improve posture, increase flexibility & prevent injury. *Pilates Mat, Reformer & Tower classes available at an extra cost.
Water Classes
The pools are a great place to increase your fitness while staying cool. Workout in one of our water fitness classes, where you'll increase your fitness without the impact of land based aerobics & reap the benefits of the water's resistance. All water aerobics classes are included in your membership.
Circuit Classes
You can get a full body workout, including strength & cardiovascular training in under 45 minutes. These classes are included in your membership.
Mind & Body Classes
Yoga offers more benefits than flexibility alone. From traditional Vinyasa & Ashtanga to Kundalini & much more, yoga at The Hills will transform your body, mind & spirit. No matter what your experience on the mat, our instructors guide & elevate your practice at the right pace for you. Note: There is a nominal fee for Sattva class participation.
Senior Classes
The Hills has designed special programs w/ our senior members in mind. These classes are available Monday through Thursday & are included in your membership.

Personal Training Program
Personal Training Program
50.00 Per hour
Personal Training provides you w/ safety, accountability, motivation, results, technical expertise, effectiveness, & efficiency! Let one of our professional Certified Personal Trainers design a custom program to help you reach your potential. Before we begin, we discuss your goals, prior exercise experience, injuries, any limitations, & other pertinent information. If you’d like, we can also do fitness testing to assess your body composition, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength & endurance, flexibility, & more. We then develop your program & put it into action. We are completely flexible & prepared to meet your needs. Whether you just want a few sessions to get started or an ongoing program, & whether you want to train in private sessions or in groups of two or more, we can help you meet your goals. Personal Training rates start at 50.00 per hour for a private session; rates vary based upon each trainer's education, certifications, & experience.
Pilates
Joseph Pilates told his students that they would feel different after 10 sessions, see the difference after 20 sessions, & have an entirely new body after 30 sessions.
The Hills offers a wide selection of Pilates Training. You can select from Private or Duet sessions, as well as Mat, Tower Mat, & Reformer classes. Regardless of the format you choose, The Hills' Pilates rates are reasonable, & you'll be working w/ highly qualified & skilled instructors.
Pilates: Private Session
One on one w/ a certified or apprentice instructor utilizing all the apparatus. Apparatus includes the reformer, cadillac, high chair, wunda chair, tower, & the ped-o-pole.
Pilates: Duet Session - Two clients with a certified or apprentice instructor utilizing the apparatus.
Advanced Client Time
Pilates clients who have reached the Advanced level in Pilates training & maintain a minimum of 3 private or duet classes per month will be able to utilize the Pilates Studio for Independent workouts. Qualifying for Independent Workouts is a mark of success & accomplishment.
Pilates: Pilates Mat Classes
A series of flexion, extension, lateral flexion, & rotation exercises performed on a mat. Over 35 exercises can be performed on the mat. A combination of basic, intermediate, & advanced exercises are introduced as the client develops strength, flexibility, coordination, & mental awareness.
Level I/II
This class builds upon the basic principals learned in the Intro class, working into knowledge & practice of the flowing progression of basic mat work. As the body becomes attuned to the deep work of the abdominal core, there is a noticeable increase in strength, tone & flexibility. Prerequisite: knowledge of basic 10 mat exercises.
Level III/IV
This class will follow the classic form of the Pilates method. This is an up to tempo class & is physically challenging. The class is not recommended for beginners or individuals w/ injuries and/or disabilities that may limit their movement capabilities. Must have approval of instructor.
Intro Class
This class will introduce the language of Pilates to beginning students. This class will focus on breathing, identifying the core of support for exercises, & pelvis stabilization. This class is a great class to start if you have never practiced the technique of Pilates. The morning Intro class is a 3-week program meeting Tuesday & Thursday 9:30 am. If this time does not meet your schedule, we offer 3 - 45 minute privates for $99 to get you ready for Level I /II. All new participants must complete the 6 intro classes or schedule private sessions before joining a Level I/II Mat Class. The cost for the 6 intro classes is $90 for Hills members & $115 for non-members.
Level II/III
Increasingly challenging exercises from Level I/II. As the tempo increases, stamina improves as does flexibility & strength.
Pilates: Pre-Pilates
These classes are included in your membership! It gives you a taste of what Pilates is about & how to add it to other exercises.
Pilates: Pilatesstick
Is an amazing Pilates tool. The Pilatesstick works as a Pilates apparatus at the fraction of the cost. It combines the tower & reformer to pull you into your center. Learn from the pros so you can use it on the road or at home.
Pilates: Tower Mat Classes
Mat work is the basis of the Pilates workout, consisting of exercises on the mat along w/ Spring resistance exercises on "the tower". These classes are not recommended for individuals w/ severe injury or pain. All new participants must schedule 2 or 3 Private sessions before joining a Level I/II class.
Level II/III
Recommended for the intermediate level.
Level I/II
Basic knowledge of mat w/ some intermediate exercises.
Level III
High intermediate w/ some advanced exercises. Approval of teacher.

Other Available Program: Childrens Program
Our goal at The Hills Health Club & Wellness Center is to promote the participation & enjoyment of lifetime physical activities w/ children instead of simply adapting adult fitness programs to children. This philosophy encourages the development of healthy, active past times that will help a child stay healthy into adulthood.
Youth Swim Lessons
Learn to swim or improve your swimming skills at The Hills! Class options are offered for children of all ages. Group & private lessons are available. Pick up the swim lesson schedule at the Flyer Information Center.
Youth Strength & Fitness Training
Specially designed for boys & girls ages 10 to 17, this program is ideal for both staying in shape & preparing for athletic/sports programs. Led by experienced & certified personal trainers. For all fitness levels.
Child Care
For a nominal fee, quality childcare is available for members & guests using The Hills Health Club & Wellness Center. Children as young as eight weeks are welcome! We offer a Parents' Day Out on Tuesdays & Thursdays for members only. Reservations are required.

Infants (under the age of one year or not walking may use child care a maximum of 1 hour.)
Children (over the age of one year & walking may use child care a maximum of 2 hours.)
Parents Day Out (Takes place every Tuesday & Thursday)
In order to minimize the chance of severe peanut related allergic reactions, please monitor the snacks that are sent w/ your children to Child Care.
Except for Parents Day Out, parents must remain on club premises while their child is in child care.
Child Care: Staff and Faculty
Our staff is experienced, qualified, certified in CPR, caring, & fun-loving, as well as concerned for the well-being of every child. Our center has two rooms which allow us to group children according to their age & developmental needs. In this way we maintain adequate supervision w/ appropriate staff/child ratios.

Child Care: Parent's Day Out
Parents day out is for Hills members only! This is an opportunity for parents to leave the Hills while their children are in child care. Reservations are required as space is limited. Parents must leave a phone or pager number so they can be reached in case of emergency.

Infants may use Parents Day Out a maximum of 2 hours.
Children may use Parents Day Out a maximum of 4 hours.
Child Care: Ongoing Activities
We offer an indoor playscape, dress up corner, reading center, separate infant area, private bathroom, as well as an art room for coloring & crafts. We have scheduled time for snacks & meals, so send your child w/ their favorite snack!
Child Care: Member Billing
The time your child spends w/ us is totaled at the end of the monthly billing period. The charges are then added to your account. Of course, you are welcome to pay on a daily basis at the front desk by check, cash, or credit card. Just have the desk call the Kid's Clubhouse when you are ready to leave to ask the amount of time spent. You will be issued a receipt upon payment. Please bring your receipt w/ your name on it at the time you pick up your child.
Child Care: Master Swin Program
We are excited to welcome Olympic Triple Gold Medalist, Sandy Neilson-Bell back to The Hills. Sandy & her husband, Sports Psychologist & coach, Dr. Keith Bell, founded The Hills Master Swim Program in the 80's. Over the years they have successfully established & coached five of the Master Swim Programs in Austin. Together they bring decades of swimming & coaching experience as well as performance expertise to The Hills Health Club & Wellness Center.

Child Care: Ballroom Dancing
Dance International invites you to come dancing at The Hills. Join us for ballroom dancing at the beautiful Hills Fitness Center (no membership required). Dance International offers group classes at all skill levels in Ballroom, Latin, Swing, Argentine Tango, & many other social-style dances. Our classes are always fun, filled w/ friendly people, & you dont' need to bring a partner. We also host practice parties, guest workshops w/ top dance professionals, & other special events.
Child Care: Pilates (pronounced puh-lah-tees)
Developed more than 70 years ago by German-born Joseph Pilates, this technique is a conditioning system that encompasses more than 500 exercises designed to promote strength, flexibility, good posture & long, lean muscles. The Pilates exercises are low-impact, controlled movements that work deep into the muscle tissue.

Prices are quoted as a basic Swedish massage. Add 10 to the base rate for additional modalities.

Relaxation/Swedish
Perfect for those who need some quiet time to decompress. The therapist uses the application of gentle to medium pressure by the hands to the body, manipulating tissue to calm the mind & body.
Sports
A sports massage prior to an event gives you a better performance; during training helps you to train more effectively, improve performance, & prevents injury. A sports massage after an event allows for quicker recovery. You do not have to be an elite athlete to benefit from this type of massage.
Reflexology
This treatment is a gentle stimulation to the pressure points in the hands & feet, causing a response in corresponding body parts.
Myofascial Release
Performed on specific areas of the body & directly on skin w/ little or no oil or lotion. The therapist detects fascial restrictions & applies the appropriate amount of sustained pressure. It is a gentle stretching technique, guided by client feedback.
Shiatsu
An Asian form of body work that uses thumb & elbow pressure to specific meridian points.
Therapeutic/Deep Tissue
Therapeutic techniques are targeted to the deeper tissue structures of the muscle & fascia. The pressure will generally be more intense, but should not hurt. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension.
Pre-Natal
Massage can help ease the physical & emotional aspects of pregnancy. It is a popular therapy for pain, when choices for relief are limited during pregnancy.
Hot Stone Therapy
Warm basalt stones are used to penetrate heat into the muscles.
Cranio Sacral
Gentle pressure is applied to the bones of the skull, sacrum & spine to restore mobility to the cerebral spinal fluid & sutures of the skull.

We will evaluate the need for equipment, provide cost estimates; & oversee purchasing & installation. We will also provide an equipment layout plan.
Fitness Center Facility Management
Creating & managing individual & organizational health change is no small task.
