Aikido is a Japanese martial art that uses redirection and healthy body movements in order to control and neutralize attacks without bringing harm to anyone, including the attacker. Each class will consist of some breathing exercises, mild stretching, and practice of a number of Aikido techniques.

Student Membership
If you’re registered for more than 3.5 credits, your membership is included in your student fees. Come use the gym at anytime.
Scarlet and Gray Membership
If you graduated from UNLV between spring 2004 and summer 2007, don’t invest in a health club membership just yet. You’ve contributed to the SRWC during its construction period, and you’re entitled to access the facility for the same number of semester in which you paid students fees. Each semester you contributed during that time period is equal to a free semester at the SRWC. For example, if you paid the fees for five semesters, you’re entitled to five semester worth of free access.
You must have a rebel card. If you do not have your rebel card anymore, you must contact the Membership Coordinator (702-774-7100) to make arrangements.
Once the credits are activated, they run continuously until they run out.
Other Memberships
Anyone over the age of 18 with a valid government issued ID is eligible to purchase a membership. We welcome UNLV Faculty and Staff, Alumni, Community members and all student taking less than 3.5 credits.

All memberships may be purchased up to 12 months in advance and run on a month to month system. (Example: If 1 month is purchased on March 7th, it will expire on April 7th)
Guest Passes
All guests may purchase a guest pass for $10.00. You must present a valid government issued ID and sign out guest pass waiver prior to entrance. You do not need a sponsor in order to purchase a guest pass. *Guest passes are valid until closing on the day of purchase.
Locker Rental
Lockers are available for rent by semester, academic year or annual year. Day lockers are also available for use. Review rental rates and details.
Exercise Classes
Come drop-in, get exercise and meet new friends at one of our many group exercise classes. No registration is needed. Our drop-in group exercise classes are called RebelX classes. RebelX classes are free for students enrolled in 3.5 or more credit hours. The classes taught vary each semester but below are examples of some RebelX classes.
Ballroom Dancing
This class will introduce you to the beginning/ bronze level of dance sport or ballroom dance. You will learn several patterns in each of the waltz, tango, foxtrot, cha cha, rumba and east coast swing. You will also learn proper dance technique for each of these and for dance sport in general.
Boot Camp
Take your workout to the next level! This 60-minute, high intensity sports conditioning class will focus on strength, agility, and speed in a nonstop cardio/strength format. Become one of the few, the proud, and the conditioned! Class takes place on the 3rd floor gym. Moderate to advanced fitness levels welcome!
Boxing
Take a jab at learning the science of boxing. Prepare for a tough total body workout geared towards weight management. This class features traditional boxing moves, combinations, and skipping drills to increase muscular strength, coordination and cardiovascular fitness. Beginners welcome!
Capoeira
This is a fusion of martial arts, acrobatics, and percussion. In class, students will build their endurance, gain flexibility, and learn basic capoeira movements. Students will also be introduced to the Brazilian culture by learning how to play traditional instruments, songs, and the native language; Portuguese. It is a fun way to work out, meet new people, and learn about a different culture!
Cardio Jazz
Learn how to dance like they do in the Music videos! Combining Pop and Jazz into a choreographed routine this class will get you moving and working out all at the same time. Beginners Welcome!
Cxworx
This class really hones in on the torso and sling muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body. It’s ideal for tightening your tummy and butt, while also improving functional strength and assisting in injury prevention. It’ll help you run faster, play harder, and stand stronger!
Expressive Movement
Expressive Movement is a low impact fitness class that incorporates dance moves into a great workout routine! In this class you will stretch and strengthen your muscles and tone your arms, abs, hips, thighs and glutes! You don't need to be a dancer to take this class- all you need is some attitude! It’s a sassy and fun was to exercise, improve posture, increase flexibility, and build body confidence!
Hip Hop
This street style of dance can be seen in today's music videos. High energy and both loose and precise movements are part of this class.
Intermediate Dance Class I
Intermediate Dance class is designed for those individuals who are looking to get moving. The basis of the class derives from the Afro-Carribean Style of movement created by Katherine Dunham or will be in the form of a standard Jazz dance class. Previous dance experience is helpful, but not necessary. As with any unfamiliar movement form it will be challenging to new comers, but the longer you stick with it, the more gratifying it becomes. These classes consist of floor, center and across the floor work, ending with a combination. Please understand that this is not a "jazzercise" type class.
Mixt Barre
A perfect blend of cardio and classic barre muscle-strengthening blended with stretching exercises. Lift, Tuck and burn!
PiYo
This class a blend of pilates and yoga. The purpose of this class is to help participants gain strength and flexibility. It is a fun and challenging workout.
R.I.P.P.E.D.
This class is a total body, calorie burning workout. The workout uses free weights, resistance, and body weight to product results. R.I.P.P.E.D stands for Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics, Endurance, and Diet.
Tai Chi
Tai Chi combines fluid movements of the upper and lower body to produce a subtle and powerful full-body exercise. In this class you will learn a set of moves that compose the "24 Form" of the Yang Style.
Yoga
In this class you can expect a flowing series of postures with emphasis on alignment, coordinated with the breath, to build strength and increase flexibility, self-awareness and ending in deep relaxation to integrate the practice. Students are gently guided through a dynamic series of poses to increase flexibility, physical strength, and inner balance, in a joyful atmosphere.
Zumba
The program combines Latin and international music with dance in an effort to make exercise fun. Classes will include aerobic interval training with a combination of rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.
Advanced Dance I
Advanced dance class is derives from the Afro-Carribean Style of movement created by Katherine Dunham. However, styles will range from Contemporary, Ballet and Jazz (all on the Advanced Level) . All these classes consist of floor or barre, center and across the floor work. Please be aware of this aspect as you prepare for class. Prior dance experience isn't required, but it is recommended.
AquaStretch
May quickly reduce chronic pain and restore flexibility lost from both new and old injuries. May also decrease soreness from workouts, increase flexibility, or create profound relaxation. Classes involve close physical contact. Proper swimwear required. Free for students: $20 for Community Members. For individual appointments, call 702-733-8476.
Belly Dancing
This empowering dance workout is beginner oriented, yet challenging enough for the intermediate student. Class seamlessly flows from isolations to combinations while learning a fun routine. Exposing your belly is optional. Please wear comfortable clothing and dance slippers, socks or bare feet. Belly dance hips scarves are welcomed and encouraged, but please refrain from wearing beaded or coined scarves. Hint—shawls make great hip scarves! Beginners welcome!
Bosu Boot Camp
Improve muscular strength and endurance in this challenging class that utilizes the BOSU Balance Trainer, bands, barbells, and hand weights for a full body workout. Check lazy at the door when you step into this class.
Candlelight Yoga
This class is a soothing, calming blend of yoga styles set to relaxing music and soft natural moonlight. This class is a great way to end your day. Beginners welcome!
Cardio Cabaret
Try something new and exciting! Combine sensual dance and rhythmic cardio in a workout for the whole body. This exhilarating class uses low impact dance to work the body's major muscle groups and build endurance. No pervious dance experience required. Beginners welcome! Cardio Caberet Video Preview
Circuit Training
This class is taught by a Nationally Certified Personal Fitness Trainer who will provide participants a workout routine combining a mix of cardiovascular and strength training exercises. Students will be led through a variety of exercises in a private studio environment. This is the perfect workout for those who are not familiar with lifting weights or those who are experience and want the motivation and guidance. All Fitness Levels Welcome.
Dance
Dance 1 is a contemporary based movement class that fuses jazz, modern, and ballet concepts. The class structure moves from floor work to center work and finally across the floor combinations.
Expressive Yoga
This yoga practice embraces creative movement and language to inspire detoxification, agility, centering and liquid like transitions, using a serpentine movement, called Serpentine Asana flow (slow dance) and offers a wide range of rhythmic movement. The Expressive Yoga practice touches on nine sequences that welcome all levels. Beginners are encouraged to feel their innate strength and connection to breath while also lending advanced practitioners a deeper connection to their body knowledge. A serene meditation often follows as the instructor provides light body adjustments and guides you into a state of ease and inner bliss.
Indoor Cycling
60 minutes of a fun and challenging routine on a stationary bicycle adjusting tempo and resistance-you control the intensity of your workout. No worrying about complicated choreography-just get into the rhythm and sweat like you never have before. Please note: For your comfort and safety, arrive 5–10 minutes early for bike set-up. Class is limited to 27 participants on a first come first serve basis. Moderate to advanced fitness levels welcome!
Judo
A Japanese martial art and an Olympic sport that consists of throwing and grappling techniques. With Judo, one can learn how to use strength, skill and leverage with maximum efficiency. It is a form of self-defense and a means of self improvement. All fitness levels welcome!
Pilates
Pilates is a fitness routine that increases and creates a balance between strength and flexibility. You can expect longer and leaner muscles, stress relief, improved posture, coordination, balance, flexibility and increased core strength and inner awareness. All fitness levels welcome!
Polynesian Dance
This class includes basic hip movements, traveling across the floor, and a short routine. Instructors often weave in lessons about the dance's costumes, music and symbolism. And if you're looking to stay conditioned for ballet, hip hop or tap, you've come to the right place. The stretches and isolations tone and strengthen the abs and thighs, and the use of different rhythms in different parts of the body improves coordination. Beginners Welcome!
Sports Conditioning
A total body workout using body weight, resistance bands and free weights to challenge all muscle groups and develop muscle strength and tone. Bursts of cardio may be interspersed to get the heart rate pumping. A class of variety to challenge everybody!
Turbo Kick (TKB)
Created by fitness celebrity Charlene Johnson, it's high intensity -- from the warm-up right through the stamina-building cardio, turbo, strength and abs sections. This is a pre-choreographed, easy to follow, kick boxing class. You'll jab, punch, and kick as you achieve kick boxing's endurance, strength, stability, balance and mental toughness. Come and join the party! Moderate to advanced fitness levels welcome!
Yoga for Athletes
Yoga brings awareness to movement patterns and muscular imbalances, increases flexibility, balance and range of motion. It also helps reduce injuries while improving endurance, core strength and efficient breathing. Yoga provides mental benefits like reduced stress, a calm mind, plus sharper focus and concentration skills. Yoga gives athletes an opportunity to recover, recharge and rejuvenate ~ preparing them physically, mentally and spiritually for intense workouts, race days and daily life.

If you are a UNLV student, faculty/staff, spouse or domestic partner, or community member with a paid Student Recreation and Wellness Center membership, you are eligible to sign up for personal training.

A level 1 personal fitness trainer holds an in-house Personal Training Certificate through the UNLV Campus Recreational Services Department. These particular trainers are put through a series of training modules and tested on their knowledge of exercise science, nutrition, fitness assessment, exercise programming, and instructional techniques. Level 1 Personal Trainers have less than one year of personal training experience.
