Quite big airport. Gates 40-50 are towards the opposite direction. Getting to the gate usually involves going down stairs.

Arrivals: don't wait in toilet lines before passport control. The queues are much shorter after. Also, if you're heading downtown by Stansted Express, just use their queue-free toilets at the platform
The water refill station has been moved and is now near the toilets in the main departures area

Elsie MareeJune 21, 2016You need to leave a minimum of 45 mins from landing for getting from arrivals to the stanstead express. Even with just hand luggage it took nearly 40 mins at passport control!

Modern airport but it’s a giant ugly warehouse which can be quite difficult to find your way around and is chronically understaffed.
Kosta DinosDecember 18, 2014I have never seen a worse airport, with such an expensive train ticket to get there. my recommendation: pay something extra and travel from Heathrow- Just do like you're told and don't mess up, and you'll have a fantastic journey with Ryanair!
Chris PhillipsAugust 22, 2016When trying to find your way in by car, avoid the drop-off lane! You'll be charged £3 to exit, even if you don't stop.
If you're going from gates 1-19, get on at the end of the transit train, not the front. It will save you time when you get off at the station.

This place looks like a post-apocalyptic refugee centre with absolutely no place to sit or sleep, poor restaurant choices and no sockets or wi-fi for public!Beware the gates of RyanAir hell lay here!
Be warned! The transit is one way. If you get to the wrong one the only way back is by official rescue vehicle... If your not sure of your gate then use the lounge by gate 74!
Gate 58 is quite a walk. Give youself 10 mins for comfort and to avoid the slow moving walking road blocks. People! Be aware / considerate of those around you.
William RobertsJuly 3, 2019The wait for passport control was the longest I have ever experienced! Consider fast track!- Going through security can take anywhere between 10 and 60 minutes.
- Although a certain airline doesn't make it very clear, check "which" Düsseldorf you're flying to. Air Berlin does the main one. The other airline doesn't and also flys at -+ the same time! Careful!!

It is better than Luton Airport, some cafes and shopping available in the airport.
Not so comfortable place. But if you lije comfort,why don't you pay 500£ and fly from Heatrow? ) because Ryanair is cheap. So just "enjoy" this 4hrs :)
UK Border control needs a reality check - hire more staff to deal with the shocking queues - truly abysmal welcoming into the country - embarrassed to be British when the queues are this long
After leaving the train go the e-passport checking row it might be faster than the regular ID control.

Security is ridiculously crowded and you'll have to go through if flight transfer- The departure check in is horrendous. Forget the sign pay give pounds for express check in and breeze right through the line of staff

Arrivals: UK border checks take forever and it is always packed. Add at least 30 mins to your journey to take this into account.
