Extremely immersive collection of modern art and design. Temporary exhibition of Studio Drift is something that everyone should see and experience - is a piece of innovations truly touching emotions.
Okay, there are permanent part which consists of works by famous artists like Chagall, Picasso, Modrian and so on and temporary part which is so crazy that could be impressive only with mushrooms. >_<
Also known by locals as the giant bath tub. It is dedicated to modern and contemporary art and design. Usually it is not as crowded as the Van Gogh museum or the Rijksmuseum so it's worth checking... Read more
Very nice art museum with the levitating cube :) I liked their barexposition from the past where you can see how the bar in LA looked like. Pretty nice place to visit
Very interesting museum, defintely one you should check out. You can find all the big names here : Picasso, Mondriaan, Van Gogh, Appel, Kandinsky, Malevich, Rothko, Newman and so on.
Best Modern Art museum in The Netherlands. Great architecture and spacious. Save money! Buy a Museum Jaarkaart at the entrance instead of separate tickets for Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh and other museums.
The art museum dedicated to contemporary art in Amsterdam. Exhibition of Carlos Amorales is fantastic. Count 2h30 for the temp exhibitions and the permanent
Modern art. Usually with great temporary expositions and the regular art collection is awesome too. Go to the halls where you find the Roy Lichtenstein item and Who's Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue.
Good collection of modern art with hilights such as Picasso, Mondrian, Kadinsky, Chagall and de Kooning 🎨 All the contemporary art is terribly cliché and unimpressive. Not worth a full price ticket.
A very cool museum with spacieuse and bright room that allow you to appreciate the various creations, sculpture, painting and design from 19th to 20th century. Curious Will enjoy going to Stedelijk :)
Definitely one of the best art museums in Ansterdam (better than Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum nearby). Great variety of interesting modern art. Good gift shop too.
Interesting collection of modern art. Get the museumkaart for €60 if you plan on hitting all 3 €15 museums in this area and almost anything else in Amsterdam that requires a ticket!
One of the best contemporary art museums of the Netherlands. You'll find Barnett Newman, Yves Klein, Piet Mondriaan, Malevich and many others in its collection.
Strong collection-worth visiting again! Highlights:Mondrian, Karel Appel, design section. Don t miss the light installation in the entrance and the current Gujs n Emmy jewelry design exhibition;
Visited Marcel Wanders exhibition, which I reccomend to see if you´re into design or art generally. I liked especially black dark room with some monstrous pieces and meaningful quotes on the wall...
Very good overview of modern art/design with some great pieces of Malevich, Mondriaan and Rietveld ... less impressive pieces regarding contemporary art, but in a whole a very strong exhibition ...
I liked the expo about design and the fact that this museum doesn't have a 3 hour line like many others in Amsterdam. The negative side - it is very very expensive. A museum should be more accessible.
Welcome to the Stedelijk Museum: a medium size museum with an extra large collection. Here you will find masterpieces from every decade of the 20th & 21st century, no matter which way you walk. Enjoy!
Quick visit and this gallery seemed nice, with modern art as soon as you enter. They let me in with a bottle of water, but then chucked me out when I was in there. Humph!
The Beanery (1965) by Edward Kienholz is one of this museum's most loved pieces. It was recently restored. Want to learn more about the restoration? Video: http://arttube.nl/en/video/Stedelijk/Beanery
Should have been good but many of the temporary exhibitions today let it down. More of the photographs from South Africa's LGBTI community and designs for refugees please and less of the pretentious!
2014 Prince Claus Laureate Gülsün Karamustafa in conversation with Vasıf Kortun for “Culture in Action: Prince Claus Awards Week” at the Stedelijk Museum, Dec 12, 16.30-17.45. http://bit.ly/1ujiyH3
Try the restaurant on Sunday mornings when its still quiet. This is actually one of the few places with a professional and friendly staff in Amsterdam!
The time slot system is insane. 2 lines: people who have a e ticket/pass or people who need to buy a ticket. Both only get in at the top of the hour in batches. Waited an hour from 10:40-11:45
