Great collection of paintings and sketches from Gustav Klimt in an special exhibition. Upstairs there's a collection of challenging art pieces. It's a building with lots of character & a cozycoffee!
A cozy little museum with great art hanging on it's walls. Feel the stunningness of the Portrait of Adele. Don't wait for the ticketfree first friday of the month. Enjoy the pay as you wish admission.
Whenever I go, the line tends to be really long, but the museum is small and amazing plus it's only for adults and has some incredible things to see. And if they have a Klimt exhibit on, it's a must.
This is the premiere showcase in NYC for German and Austrian artworks. The Galerie is owned by Ronald Lauder (of the cosmetics empire), and it is a treasure. There is a cafe and a bookstore as well.
The Neue Galerie features early twentieth century German and Austrian art and design and has a feel of a residence rather than a museum. It also houses Cafe Sabarsky, a Viennese coffee house.
Recently went for my 1st time to see the Degenerate Art exhibit. It's a small but excellent museum. Definitely worth visiting! Security is strict about certain things, only b/c the spaces are narrow.
A gem of a museum. Something truly special in a city full of great museums. I can't get the Klimt of Adele Bloch-Bauer out of my head. The clocks and decorative arts also delight.
Most of the galleries occupy the upper floors. Photography is prohibited and bags must be checked in. There is a reproduction of "Lady in Gold" in the basement but it's just a poster.
Klimt & Schiele show coming 7/12-9/4/18. Otherwise, museum is small & not worth $20pp. FREE 1st FRI’s of every mo 6-9pm w/ museum shops + Café Sabarsky open for drinks, dinner & dessert until 9pm.
A little pricey for a small museum, but an absolute must-see for anyone who appreciates early 20th Century German and Austrian art. The building alone is almost worth the price of admission.
Came for the Degenerate Art exhibition. The gallery was crowded but worth the visit. Students could get a discounted price of $10. Great selection at the book shop.
Housed in a 1914 mansion, this German-Austrian museum plays host to "Degenerate Art: The Attack on Modern Art in Nazi Germany, 1937." Wrap up with a linzertorte at Café Sabarsky. Thur-Mon: 11am-6pm
Due to COVID, you have to get your tickets in advance. When you go to their website, you can buy the tickets per time slot. Make sure to bring your ID and vaccination record.
Filled with twentieth century German and Austrian art, the small museumattracts fewer tourists than its Museum Mile counterparts, but maintains the same level of pedigree.
A small museum specializing in Austrian & German art including Klimt. Call ahead and find out if open late (on Fridays, for instance) for free admission.
I've been there last week; At the time 3rd floor was closed. Probably for that reason admission was free. You can still check out Klimt's fabulous pieces on 2nd floor.

The Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I is undoubtedly the most impressive painting I've ever seen in my life... The Neue Galerie is a must visit place in New York City
Offered on Mondays at 4pm, Neue Galerie presents a series of documentaries and feature films that engage with central themes of the art on display.Enjoy free of charge in Café Fledermaus.
An incredible museum devoted to early 20th-century German and Austrian art and design. Café Sabarsky, on the first floor, serves authenticwiener schnitzel.
Their exhibitions are extraordinary ( Klimt and cia) but what is interesting about this place is its quiet agenda, elegant setting, and ambiance at the Cafés ( Sabarsky and Fledermaus). Read more
