- Sherri Dill-AdamsMay 4, 2013Definitely a great experience with your children! Food court is quite high so bringing lunches if you can would be ideal! The staff is super friendly and helpful.....minus one grumpy security guard!
- Daniel CrumJuly 2, 2017I feel like the Museum of Science & Industry could be cool, but I didn't have a good experience personally -- too many kids. Go during the school year, preferably during the school week.
- U505 is always good. I really like the fairy castle. The chicks are always fun when they hatch.
- nemo sergesFebruary 22, 2017Always a great time! All of the exhibits are fun and educational and plenty of them are interactive. Fun at any age.
- Derek EskensOctober 26, 2015Go to the mirror maze early in the morning before the mirrors get smudged. Remember, if you get lost, just keep turning left. And be sure to find the hidden room inside.
- Mon BenMay 1, 2013Best museum ever! Genetics room is a must. You have to pay extras for the submarine and coal mine, but I think it's worthy.
- Brad HobackMarch 21, 2011So much to see and do here; start early and stay all day. The U505 exhibit is incredible. The omnimax movie "Tornado Alley" was intense. Get tix and get in line early to get a good seat.
- Chris GMay 14, 2013Apollo 8 CSM is on display here. Launched 12/21/1698, Apollo 8 became the first manned spacecraft to leave low-earth orbit, first to reach the moon and orbit, and the first to see the whole planet.
- Ian RodriguezApril 25, 2012Allocate enough time to see everything that you want to. There's a lot of awesomeness to be seen, so make sure you can see as much of it as possible. Might need to take the whole day!
- Jeremy WilcoxSeptember 23, 2013Really fun museum for kids or adults. Lots to see and interact with. There's no "L" train near here, but taking the Metra from Millennium Park is quick, easy, and cheap.
- ChicagoistAugust 1, 2014Yes, it's one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city, but it's also something that you absolutely have to experience. Read more
- Belit RodriguezDecember 1, 2017It takes waaay more than a day to visit. The storms exhibit was my favourite. The garden is not open on winter :(
- Kevin DulinAugust 11, 2014Get tickets for the Coal Mine as it's super cool! But be quick, as it sells out early. The Boeing 727 is also very awesome.
- Simon & Schuster ManagerAugust 24, 2011Building that housed the original Field Museum, before it moved to its current location; also close to the World’s Fair of 1893. Featured in the novel BRIGHT AND DISTANT SHORES. http://bit.ly/oM5tmC
- Pack a lunch and allow for breaks in between! There's plenty of spots to charge your gadgets. ;-) The coolest museum!
- Play in the Mirror Maze! It's free but you need to get a timed-ticket at the kiosk by the entrance.
- Jo Ann Flores-DeterDecember 29, 2012Only museum I've seen in Chicago that has such a great play area for children + nursing station just like home
- Stefanie ReevesJune 10, 2013If you're active duty military, you and your companion can visit for free! Check out the flight simulator and don't forget to get some ice cream before you leave.
- Ian SmithdahlMay 5, 2014Park in the park district lot around back, between the museum and the lake. It's $10 -- not cheap, but cheaper than $20 in the museum lot.
- Steven ParkerFebruary 3, 2016Loved it as child but now not so much. Science Storms & model train are great but rest very juvenile. Don't go Fri AM: Field trips are WILD!
- Britta the pointyelbowMarch 15, 2013If you loved Body Worlds, check out Animals Inside. Hopefully, the gorilla & elephant make it out of customs before the show leaves. I would love to see those.
- Iryna VistovskaSeptember 16, 2014Had THE BEST time in MSI, great not only for kids but for adults as well.
- Victoria SudingJuly 21, 2012There's an exhibit that shows the development of a baby starting from a tiny cell to a fully developed baby. They all died of natural causes and are preserved in jars. Kinda freaky but interesting.
- Micah J CollinsDecember 7, 2014Great place! Awesome exhibits, fun for the whole family. Make sure you get a "City Pass" save some cash.
- AndrewApril 1, 2017Best way to spend a Saturday without question. Something to see and learn with each visit.
- GinaDecember 30, 2016Wonderfully interactive exhibits for all ages. Even the Jollyball can keep us occupied for ages.
- Molly GodfreyAugust 27, 2014So much to see, plan for a whole day there and look up special exhibits. Always have fun here
- Ben MorrowAugust 3, 2015Massive museum. Give yourself plenty of time. The injection-molded plastic souvenirs in each area are unique and fun.
- Bobby KennedyJanuary 2, 2016Christmas around the World is a great holiday tradition. And don't miss the Swiss Jolly Ball epic pinball machine.
- iselaJanuary 4, 2017Order your tickets online instead of waiting in line at the museum. You might even snag a promo code this way!
- Daniel VencesJuly 6, 2017Amazing museum, don't forget that visit the submarine and temporal exhibitions has an extra cost
- Joanna PoeJune 4, 2023Nice exhibits, but man, is this place pricey. U-505 is especially rushed and not so much a tour as a dramatized walkthrough with mood lighting. Might be disappointed if you've been on other subs.
- carmelle gossApril 23, 2015All the features are very good, but the cost is very expensive, especially when you have more than one child. There should be more discounts, so that people with a certain income can take their kids.
- Dan KuehlingAugust 25, 2012iPhone battery saver: turn Airplane mode on, then turn WiFi back on and join their guest WiFi (MSI-Guest) you won't get a cell signal anyway but can still stay connected.
- Sandra CordierMay 22, 2019Grab your kids or grandkids and get to this place ASAP!! Lots of fun stuff to see and do.
- Emily M.July 22, 2013If you show up an hour before the museum closes for a special exhibit, you'll only be charged about $13! Great deal if you are pressed for cash like I was!
- Alma LealNovember 13, 2013The movies at the IMAX theatre (or at least Space Junk, the one I saw) are the perfect opportunity to take a power nap.
- Sanjay GuptaMay 17, 2010Been years since I rode in the coal mine or in the submarine. I would love to take someone who never has been to this extremely impressive and interactive museum located in the heart of Hyde Park.
- Travel ChannelMarch 3, 2011This museum’s largest exhibit is also its most impressive. In its time, this steel monster was one of the deadliest war machines ever created. It is a U-boat, known by its infamous number 505. Read more
- Madison OrlofskiAugust 16, 2013The animals in side out is amazing as is the mining thing. Skip the toy making exhibit. Loved this museum!!!
- Mick MediaMarch 29, 2011See yourself like never before at Body Worlds! But our favorite is still watching baby chicks hatch. Plus, you can skip the lines and buy your tix at the front desk of Best Western River North Hotel
- Casey JSeptember 4, 2014Family friendly museum with something to see and do for everyone. Very interactive.
- William StudartJuly 11, 2016The best science museum I've ever visited, very interactive and educating!

- The tesla coil in the storm room fires infrequently, but you can check the timer on the screen on the second floor.
