The 1st facility opened in 1917. In 2007 the gates were adjusted to lower the water level of the Mississippi by 2 ft to assist in the recovery efforts of the victims of the I-35W bridge collapse.
Voted Best Lake by City Pages in 2010. The beaches are clean, the characters are plentiful, and even if you don’t feel like going for a dunk, there are sailing opportunities and people-watching galore
Built in 1882-83, the bridge is recognized as a National Civil Engineering Landmark. In 1994 the bridge was converted into a pedestrian and bike trail & offers a panoramic view of St. Anthony Falls.
