The only Laotian food in Manhattan, and it's great. Spare ribs, crispy coconut rice with lime sausage, bone marrow with steak tartare, and pork curry noodles. Equally good for a date or a group.
The menu includes things like crunchy coconut rice with sausage, bamboo grilled quail, duck laap, spare ribs, grilled chicken, and pork belly with quail egg. A really fun restaurant for date night.
Go family style! Coconut rice was absolutely amazing, loved the lobster noodles and don’t skip the Tuna Tartar which comes with a bone marrow and a fois gras:) Not cheap but also not too expensive.
The Pork Belly with Spicy Bang Bang, and cha sew banh mi (same pork just in a bun), are delicious!!!! We came here for lunch, and the options are far limited compared to dinner menu.
Bowls are really great, service is very nice and drinks are interesting! If you are hungry go for the sandwiches. Also, its very cheap for the quality you get. A must in Tribeca.
Excellent service and one of the few Laotian restaurants in NYC. Ribs are a must, the coconut rice pudding is super yummy, brussels sprout special is delicious- make sure you're into spicy.
So good!! Free sticky rice w spicy bang bang and eggplant sauce. Beef jerky. Crunchy coconut rice. Papaya salad. Almost preferred the smalls to the large. Whole snapper is great but a bit messy.
The brunch market bowls are incredible value. Get the crispy pork belly with the sticky rice option which comes with great sides as well (Spicy Bang-Bang sauce, Charred Eggplant & Roasted Mushrooms)
lobster and noodles: standard pad see ew with lobster blocks. king salmon: melt-in-your-mouth tender. prawns and toast: SO JUICY. Blackfish: SO CRISPY. Great blend of dishes under a warm ambiance 🙏
“Among the best dishes are a whole grilled quail on a stick, tasting like charcoal and ginger, and a steak tartare that’s served, Flintstones style, atop a giant bone filled with roasted marrow.” Read more
The pig face is so good! Crispy skin and juicy meat plus the sweet and sour sauce! So yummy! This is the best restaurant I've been in NYC and will definitely come back for more! Lol
Awesome experience! 1) Ask to be seated in Vance's section 2) Order the duck laap, crunchy coconut rice w/ sausage, spare ribs, & whole sea bass 3) get extra bang bang sauce 4) eat with your hands
Everyone starts with the rice balls, a delicious and fun dish. We tried the coconut rice, papaya salad, quail, and pork curry noodles. Everything blew us away. One of my favorite meals!
The brunch here has a lot of unique items and the food is delicious. Our waiter had a terrible attitude though which kind of put a damper on our experience.
Beer Lao and duck laap (with fried duck tongues) make for a great start to any meal. The whole grilled bass and crunchy coconut rice with kaffir lime sausage are also fantastic!
Definitely try the crispy rice (which you eat with your hands), the red snapper (with bang bang butter….) and the steak tartare served with bone marrow and mint. Read more
Had such a great intro to this resto. Sat at the bar and had great service. Shared the line caught blue fin tuna & crunchy coco. rice. Wine selection was mostly french. Have to come back for more.
Sticky rice with the bang bang sauce is amazing! (Actually try the bang bang sauce with everything). Fun cocktails, great service, impressive food presentation. Bass was ok but pork belly delicious!
Get the papaya salad because this version is particularly fresh and bright, along with an order of crunchy coconut rice balls with kaffir lime-laced sausage, drizzled with honey sambal. Read more
Chef and Owner Soulayphet Schwader has truly blessed us with Khe Yo, Manhattan’s only traditional Laotian restaurant. A wanting for a taste of Mr. Soulayphet’s home,... Read more http://bit.ly/2G6XdhZ
Get the pork belly! The chili prawns and quail are lovely as well. Ask for extra bang bang sauce if you can handle your spice. The Bordeaux pairs nicely with most of the food.
Great portions for the prices. It's all about the bang bang sauce and the sticky rice! The coconut sticky rice appetizer is fantastic and the prawns are really flavorful!
Everything here is nom'able, however, my absolute favorite thing about this place is the bang bang sauce for the sticky rice. The glass noodle dish with bacon is pretty filling.
The chef Soulayphet Schwader opened Khe-Yo with the chef and restaurateur Marc Forgione with Laos food's careful balance of sweet and spicy, but with the sour, funky element turned up a notch.
Crunchy coconut rice and prawn dishes were great. Bang bang sauce has great flavor (but spicy). Nice wines by the glass (two Alsace whites good pairings for spicy dishes).
On the house but amazeballs: Coconut rice & Bang bang sauce. Spare ribs a win. So was crispy rice & quail. More accessible to Manhattan than pok-pok, nearly as good. Top ten!
Dinner starts not with bread and butter, but rather a complimentary basket of sticky rice, which you should eat with your hands & dip in the accompanying chili-garlic sauce and smoked eggplant paste. Read more
Crunchy coconut rice as small plate and curry noodle as large plate will be the recommendation from me and my friend. Their snapper is also well made :P
Laotian-approved! It was a wonderful meal that reminded me of home. I will definitely return and also recommend it to people who ask me what Laos food is like.
Try a new food downtown like this ping-pa I tried w/ @MMB88 at @Khe_Yo restaurant in #NYC Great #food experience! http://t.co/rsC1s9kcW1 - surprising, warm atmosphere, perfect service.
This city unfortunately does not have that many good, southeast asian restarurants. For better or worse, that just makes Khe-Yo that much more special. It's actually really great, great flavors here.
Friggin amazing. Got the table by the window at 8pm on a Friday night no res/no wait. Enthusiastic wait staff is always a plus. Oh yea, the food was also great. Get the prawns.
Village Voice is proud to welcome Khe-Yo to the 2014 Choice Eats food fest! http://bit.ly/1cRzdNV. We'll take some of that crispy coconut rice, please.
Chef Owner Soulayphet Schwader and Partner Iron Chef Marc Forgione showcase the Cuisine of Laos at their TriBeCa Restaurant. Chili Prawns with Texas Toast and Crunchy Coconut Rice Balls with Kaffir Lime Leaf are two of the house favorites at Dinner.
