Established in Columbus Ohio, Global Gallery is a volunteer based, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Fair Trade handcrafted products from around the world while developing cultural enrichment through educational workshops & social events.

About the Producers: Grounds for Change is a certified organic coffee roaster specializing in 100% Fair Trade Coffee. Their coffee is Fair Trade Certified by TransFairUSA, Organic Certified by the Washington State Department of Agriculture & grown in shaded conditions. Through their partnerships w/ Grounds for Change, coffee growers in several different countries throughout Central America have been able to institute powerful positive social change, such as preventing the use of land for growing coca & poppies, used to make illegal drugs, making it possible for local students to attend college for the first time in their communities, creating sexual health education programs to prevent the spread of the virus that causes cervical cancer, & helping farmers to elevate their production to the level required for fair trade certification so that they can benefit as well.

About the Producers: Peace Coffee was created after the Institute for Agriculture & Trade Policy met w/ a group of Mexican farmers in 1995 & realized the need for direct sales of fair trade coffee to support the growers. The company now supports several grower-owned co-ops as well as its own, Cooperative Coffees.

This product is made from dried leaves of the banana tree that grow in abundance in the tropical regions of Central Africa. They are cut into strips & rolled into a variety of beautiful perles (beads) . The familiar red mud is used to make clay beads in a small handcrafted kiln. The result is a treasured work of art & love.

All the news that’s fit to weave – artisans’ careful handwork makes a beautiful & effective hot mat from recycled newspapers. Paper is coiled around broom bristle, joined w/ thread & glue, then starched for durability. Mats will stand up to heat & moisture that comes w/ average use.

Adapted from a traditional basket-making technique, this bowl is made w/ recycled posters from a printing company. Artisans form the paper into flat strips, dip them in a glue mixture & hang them to dry. After this they re-wet the strips & coil them into a bowl form. The strips are held together w/ the glue, forming a sturdy bowl.

Handmade soap is carefully crafted from natural vegetable oils by traditional Indian soapmakers. The fragrance of these soaps from Palam Rural Centre is unique, derived from herbs, roots, leaves or flowers, blended to aromatic perfection. Attractively boxed, making the perfect small gift.

The Kisii stone wedding sculpture from Kenya holds deep significance. The smaller loop symbolizes the bride. It is placed under the large loop (the groom) because the husband will be her hunter & protector for the rest of their lives. The two loops stand for the two individuals that have become joined through marriage but are still two individual people. Family or close friends give the sculpture to the couple on their wedding day. The traditional blessing that accompanies the sculpture says: May the union last as long as the stone from which the sculpture is carved.

This classic‏ Tibetan prayer flag is hand silk screened on cotton for Tibet Collection by the Tibetan Nuns Project in Dharamsala, India.
