About the Producers: Divine chocolate is made from cocoa harvested by the Kuapa Kokoo co-op in Ghana, which was formed in the early 1900s to protect the rights of Ghanaian cocoa farmers. In 1997, they voted to form their own chocolate company, of which they own 45%, more than any other fair trade food producing company. Members of the cooperative are able to obtain management positions within the company & control their own fates. Profits have helped the farmers build schools, get clean drinking water, provide medical care to remote areas, & create programs to help generate income so that women can support their families outside of growing season.
