Bookstore · Back Bay West · 311 tips and reviews
Dana F: Not only do they have a great book and magazine selection but they have really tasty food too. Check out the 'perpetual breakfast' menu or the amazing Cape Codder sandwich.
Sandwich Spot · Fenway - Kenmore - Audubon Circle - Longwood · 5 tips and reviews
Dee Hibbard: Sick of dining hall food? This sandwich chain right past BU's South Campus is a great-quality place to venture to for lunch, with mid-range prices. Be sure to try the Chicken Number 9 with Swiss!
Dee Hibbard: This venue holds only a few hundred people, but seeing your favorite alternative/indie rock groups here feels like an acoustic set in your backyard thanks to it's size. Plus, most shows are only $15.
Dee Hibbard: Quick, while it's warm! If you're sick of Mugar and the BU Beach is crowded, this park is a 5 minute walk from CFA, and a great place to do homework&hang out. Maybe you'll even spot Dean Elmore...
Nicole Merritt: Located in South Campus, this spot is perfect for a late-night crepe or grabbing a breakfast sandwich - you can call in your order in the morning and pick it up on the way to class!
Nicole Merritt: Start taking advantage of this awesome running spot - the views are incredible - and you'll be in good company! In the warm weather, bring a towel and lay out on the docks.
Nicole Merritt: Wander down further West and eat at Sunset Grill & Tap over Sunset Cantina. Don't forget to try the nachos, a BU favorite (and there's takeout!)
33 Harry Agganis Way (Commonwealth Ave), Boston, MA
College Residence Hall · Allston · 19 tips and reviews
Nicole Merritt: Take the elevator to the 26th floor for one of the best views of Boston! Best part? It's also a study space and lounge - with air conditioning! Get here early, it gets crowded pretty quick.
Nicole Merritt: Look out for more food trucks on Comm Ave this year - but this one is a must. The chickpea fritter (with chili paste) is nothing short of mouth watering - and perfect with a speciality lemonade!
178 Thorndike St (at Commonwealth Ave), Boston, MA
Bakery · 60 tips and reviews
Nicole Merritt: Arguably one of the best bakeries in Boston - I don't think you can go wrong with anything. On Sundays, definitely expect a line - bring a coffee for the wait!
Nicole Merritt: Rated #1 burger in Boston by boston.com, take advantage of this place as much as you can in your 4 years here. They aren't kidding with the motto "Above all burgers" - oh, & get a milkshake. Always.
270 Western Ave (btwn Everett & Riverdale), Allston, MA
Diner · North Allston · 74 tips and reviews
Dana F: This adorable retro diner is off the beaten path for BU students but it's definitely worth the hike--try the Princess or the Basket Case in honor of the classic John Hughes movie.
Nicole Merritt: A bit off campus, Zaftigs is huge at BU with both students and parents! You can't go wrong with any meal. Expect to wait, but so worth it! Coffee is amazing - try the chocolate raspberry french toast.
Jason Feldman: Trust me, you'll definitely end up here at least 2/3 nights during the weekend for late night munchies. Stick with a plain cheese pizza plus an order of fries, and you'll be set.
Indie Movie Theater · Coolidge Corner · 73 tips and reviews
Jason Feldman: Make it a priority to see a flick here instead of at an over-priced, oversized corporate movie theatre chain. The atmosphere is great and the movie theatre seats are extra comfortable.
Jason Feldman: You can't do your dry cleaning at BU facilities, so this is the best place for West Campus dwellers to come and get their dry cleaning done - best price, always efficient, and superb service!
Jason Feldman: If you're looking for a chill night out and not looking to break your bank, Nile offers a unique Middle Eastern, chic hookah lounge atmosphere with a host of hookah flavors and drink options.
