There was a time when Appalachian strings made romance with New Orleans rhythms, a love affair that yielded one of the most infectious beats the world had ever heard. For Roosevelt Dime that time is now. Some would call it Rock & Roll, others Americana, but "Mardi-Grass" is more like it-a bedrock of New Orleans rhythms that brings driving, melodic banjo, fat-back blues guitar, pure honky-tonk harmonies, and deliciously dirty R&B vocals along for the ride-it makes for a groove so inspired the New York Times has called Roosevelt Dime "a perpetual crowd pleaser." With a whisper or a cry, a long, cool wail or a hot-and-heavy three part harmony, Roosevelt Dime speaks the language of the Blues. Andrew Green's banjo is soulful and rhythmic, less claw-hammer and more crawfish boil, dixieland by way of the BQE, and he sings with a New York drawl softened by the rolling hills of Appalachia. Eben Pariser is the gunslinger, with guitar sensibility straight out of Abilene and a voice like a velvet tent revival, perfect for the church of the unrepentant. Underpinning the groove is Tony Montalbano's laid-back Pacific-meets-Delta percussion, and Craig Akin's bass, as sweet and complex as Kansas City barbecue. This musical alchemy is purely American, transforming struggle into celebration, pain into perseverance, and taking the joyous beat from sidewalks and streetcars to backrooms and barrooms, from the ample hills of Brooklyn to the amber waves of grain. It is Jackie Colombo's birthday, and the old band is getting together. Monkeys Typing jammed most every Thursday for over a decade, but have since gone thier separate ways. But the band gets back together for this special celebration.

Stratospheerius is the bastard child of Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Dave Matthews, and Blues Traveler. Lead by electric violinist/vocalist/mandolinist Joe Deninzon, the band has showcased their "psychojazz trip funk" at colleges, festivals, and clubs throughout the US. The New York-based group has opened for Mickey Hart, Tim Reynolds, The Slip, Ekoostik Hookah, and John Scofield among others. Their live performances are filled with funky dance grooves, rip-roaring guitar/violin jams, and hooks that mix jazz, funk, and world beat. The group was a winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, won the Online People's Choice Awards in the Cornucopia Festival, and was named "Best Jam Band" in Musician's Atlas Independent Music Awards. Marsland relocated to Los Angeles and formed punk-flavored powerpop band Cockeyed Ghost in 1994. Along with bands such as The Negro Problem, Baby Lemonade andWondermints, Marsland and Cockeyed Ghost were driving forces in the popular mid '90s "pop underground" in Los Angeles and signed to Rkyodisc-distributed indie label Big Deal in 1996. The band's debut album Keep Yourself Amused followed shortly thereafter and was acclaimed by The New York Press as "finest debut album of the rapidly aging year." Described in SPIN magazine as "a high-energy cross between Brian Wilson, Paul Stanley, and Elton John"

Jamie Willard has been performing for more than thirty years and his music has in that time evolved into a rendition of beauty and a distillation of grace. His compositions are variously described as "[i]ntricately detailed, a pleasure not only to listen to but to see". At a recent workshop, Jamie had an opportunity to play for and with finger-style guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel, upon hearing Jamie play he said, "That's brilliant," and praised Jamie as a gifted guitarist with a wonderful sense of melody. Jamie's artistry ranges from Classical to Jazz to Country and Rock; each with its own passion and raw sophistication along with Jamie's own style and wit. Jamie had the good fortune of tremendous teachers throughout his career. A graduate of the Flip Hayes School of Guitar, Jamie also was fortunate enough to study with classical master Paul Sweeny. Jamie's playing has taken him across the continental United States and into Europe where he performed for receptive audiences in Russia.

Puerto Rican vocalist Taína Asili carries on the tradition of her ancestors, fusing past and present struggles into one soulful and defiant voice. Her newest artistic work is with la Banda Rebelde (the Rebel Band) , a six piece international ensemble based in Albany, NY. This dynamic force brings love, resistance, and ancestral remembrance to venues, festivals, conferences and political events across the globe. Powerful vocals laid over an energetic fusion of Afro-Caribbean, reggae, rock, and hip hop sounds, the band's eclectic style represents the diversity of its members, who have origins in Puerto Rico, Sicily, Greece, Spain, Brazil and Ghana. Taína Asili's voice exudes strength of Spirit, filling its listeners with the fervor of freedom and inspiring audiences to dance to the movement of rebellion. Taína Asili y la Banda Rebelde released their debut album War Cry in 2010, which has already begun to gain international attention. Kim Monroe set's herself apart from other singer songwriters by delivering conviction and soul in every verse. With an EP and two full length disks each garnering critical acclaim, and two SAMMY awards under her belt she has consistently impressed audiences with her unique songwriting and powerful vocals. With another record in the works, Monroe attributes the leap she has made as a vocalist and songwriter to greater confidence in herself and a clearer vision of her musical direction. Helping to define and craft this new direction is guitarist Chris Eves who will be joining Monroe in the studio and on the road. "Chris has helped me believe in myself as a musician and the new tunes we are working on have really lit a fire in me to perform live," says Monroe when asked about the budding collaboration, "I'm really excited by the new sounds we are coming up with and cannot wait to get into the studio." Monroe has enjoyed collaborating with artists in the past, such as Goo Goo Dolls bassist Robby Takac and Blues Traveler's harmonica virtuoso John Popper. "I've been lucky to get the opportunity to work with some really wonderful, creative people in the industry and hope to continue to collaborate and play with such great musicians." With a tour calendar steadily filling and a new record in the works Monroe is excited for the future. "This next year will be a lot of work but I feel like there will be a lot of growth and opportunities that come with the new album. I am really looking forward to taking my next step musically and enjoying all that comes with it."
