My favorite bar I'm Hayes Valley. A Saturday afternoon sitting at the table by the window with some of your best friends drinking a brass smash is the only way I want to live my life
I still miss Marlena's. I do like the new decor though- and they kept the Santa collection! The drinks are good, staff nice enough. It attracts a crowd that feels sort of like the Marina, but it's ok.
Brass Tacks ups the ante at Sunday Brunch with a DJ who spins classic R&B hits while patrons enjoy chicken & waffles (which usually sell out), stuffed brioche French toast and pork belly & grits.
Trust your bartenders; they know their stuff. The list is EXCELLENT & spirit-forward, but if nothing appeals (and it's not crazy), give them a spirit and maybe a flavor you like, and let them go.
Serious drinks, serious decor. And by serious I mean they really put effort I to it all. A great replacement to Marlena's as my Hayes Valley watering hole
The cocktails skew a little too sweet for my taste and the crowd is a bit bro-y. Two Sisters down the street has excellent cocktails and a more refined crowd.
STRONG drinks. Nice bartenders, but the Valley Club and Knife in the Water we had (both baby pink) left something to be desired taste-wise. Not bad, but not Absinthe or Trick Dog, either.
