Their Desanto Typico (typical Costa Rican breakfast) is reasonable authentic for an airport restaurant.
Budget time to fill out their exit form and pay the $29 (or so) fee before you check in for your flight back!
Close to the airport. Ideal place to stay if you are heading out into the country right after your first night. If you are going to explore San Jose, this is not the right spot.
If you are a guest here, you are better off wandering down the street to the Sushi or Italian restaurant less than a block away. Good for sipping rum at night at the bar, though!
A basic hotel that was fine for our one night in town. If you can find nicer accommodations, such as the tree house lodging, I recommend it.
Best food we had in Monteverde and a pretty good deal. Loved sitting outside in the sun.
At the top of the tram before you start taking the zip lines down. The hot chocolate is free but the rum costs money. I recommend both.
Probably our favorite single activity in Monteverde: a tour of a coffee, sugar, and chocolate plantation. Great guides. Great demos. And even some hands-on activities.
Awesome hotel with individual cabins and a series of hot springs pools just for the guests. Pretty nice accomodations.
Seems like the center of Westerner social activity. Easy to run into someone you know accidentally, which we did twice.
Our favorite Arena-area activity: a super steep but not overly long hike to extinct volcano summit which now hosts a small lake.
