The 84-year-old museum houses the most comprehensive Maori and Pacific Islander art collection in the Southern Hemisphere: graphic textiles; war canoes; even whare (traditional Maori meeting houses).
One of the best museums I visited in the world. The historic part and the geographical living periods are must visit 😎. Fo museum lovers, 3 hours is not enough to see everything.
Go at sunset and enjoy some fantastic photo opportunities across the city and of the classic old museum with the coloured lights - one of the most beautiful buildings and surrounds in the city
A lot of stuff to see in here. That said, it was difficult to know what to look at and in what order. In general, the "story" seems to be missing throughout the museum.
Parking is quite a nightmare. But it's ok if u are willing to pay for the indoor ones. Collections in the museum are great and probably the most tourist-friendly museum I've been thus far.
this place has the best quality authentic NZ souvenirs - pay the higher price and get the good stuff, don't waste yr time buying cheap tat made in China.
