WDC Helsinki 2012: Arkchitect Gert Wingårdh wanted the Piano Pavillion to resemble a ship being set to water, so it is set half on top of the sand and half on water.
WDC Helsinki 2012: Completed in 2000, designed by architects Hannu Tikka and Kimmo Lintula, the Lahti Sibelius Hall was the largest wooden public building built in Finland in 100 years.
Vilja: Kisapuisto is a centrally located park where you can play and follow all kinds of sports, including basketball, tennis, football and baseball. Ice skating in the winter!
Vilja: Built by August Fellman in 1898, this beautiful old building used to be the biggest manor in Lahti. Throw a coin in the fountain and make a wish!
Vilja: Peaceful hilltop park with a view point to the South side of the city. Also offers a close up view of the two iconic radio towers that dominate the Lahti skyline. Good track for weekend workouts.
Vilja: Ristinkirkko was one of the final designs Alvar Aalto completed in his lifetime. The church's construction was completed in 1978, two years after his passing. Home of Lahti Organ music festival.
Vilja: A lovely bakery cafe that has been around since the 1950s. Named after the lead character in Mika Waltari's historical novel The Egyptian, but also known as the 'aquarium' by locals.

Mika K: Taivaanranta could be called "Nordic bistro" - really nice original nordic food with relaxed atmosphere. An they do have their own single malt...
