Taggs Island

30 July: See the houseboats. JM Barrie & Charlie Chaplin are both thought to have spent time on the boats in earlier days and more recently Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour converted one into a studio.

Now a houseboat community, this island was home to the prestigious Thames Hotel from 1872, and later the Karsino – owned by Fred Karno, the music hall legend who invented the custard pie act.

Great place for some R&R!
