You can walk up but there is also a cable car to the right hand side as you look at the building opposite the bridge. Lovely views and they had a palinka and whiskeyfestival at the top. Extra cost.
Monumentcastle on the hill above the city. There are galleries, spots to enjoy the view or admire the architecture, visit history expositions, try some medieval activities with locals or buy some arts.
Some people have added photos here of the Matthias church ... It's a separate building about a ten minute walk away. It's not the castle. The castle is the building with the blue dome.
Don't miss the World Heritage-listed Royal Palace and CastleHill. Home to the Hungarian National Gallery, the Budapest History Museum, famous Fishermen's Bastion, tiled roof of the Matthias Church.
Very pretty with great views of Danube and Pest. Museum is closed on Monday’s. Take the Funicular from the base of the castle to the top. Cool little ride.
Destroyed a rebuilt many times over the centuries. Huge impressive palace towering high on the Buda side of the river and dominating the Budapest skyline.
Save some money and do not take funicular nor castlebuses to get to the top - it's just so easy to walk to the left of funicular (slight elevation) and take the free elevator to the top.
Beautiful art and building, picture perfect grounds outside. The castle is a must when visiting Budapest. Area surrounding the museum has lots to explore and see as well.
Grand and huge. A short walk from Fisherman's bastion. If you are coming from Clark Adam Tér then a short climb or take the lifts. Avoid the funicular. See the royal guard on horses.
I guess my fav place in the city. Perfect for walking - if you don't mind walking a lot - and have plenty of spare time. Totally worth the visit, the view is stunning!
Amazing view from the castle, great for a long walk around a silent neighbourhood. When visiting, don't miss Ruszwurm confectionary and the National Gallery either!
Brilliant view of Budapest from this castle.. Such a good idea to go there at night! Of course the castle is also beautiful building and it's necessary to see it..
A beautiful site, but don't waste your time and money to go inside or eat at the onsite restaurants. Best move: go in the morning or after lunch time, late in the afternoon.
Really interesting museum, but take an audio guide, otherwise it will be not that thoughtful. Exhibition starts from the top platform and it takes about 2 hours with a guide.
You can see much of the city from here and witness the changing of the guard in front of the presidential home -- closer than you could ever get to the White House.
Today we visited Buda Castle and it is still really beautiful and there were lots of people because there is Beer Festival there. Visit it if you would like to taste it! ;)
A must see of this city... Prices can be a little high, so make sure to eat beforehand, or better yet, bring a picnic to enjoy as you overlook the entire city of Pest..!
