The Union Square Greenmarket is a farmers' market in Union Square in Manhattan, New York. It is held every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8 AM to 6 PM.
Beyond offering delicious, local produce, the Greenmarket in Union Square is a great place to drop off used batteries, compost food scraps, and donate your old clothes.
If you want to take a tour of the market, take a look at the events page of www.SandraDubrov.com The tour focuses on farmers who sell sustainably grown and organic produce.
People people everywhere! :) great organics, neat shwag. Why does that guy have all those buttons that say peace on them? I loved the original batman logo one... But it said PEACE in the direct center
Bison minutesteak was a fast-cooking, nutritious revelation. Honey crisp apples and womanchego cheese ain't nothin' to sneeze at either. Top it all off with an abundance of gorgeous flowers...heaven.
Honor the abundance on display by turning fieldpeas, eggplant, tomatoes, cabbage, apples, carrots into savory side-dishes. Find helpful tips and recipes in JUST MARRIED AND COOKING. Read more
Buy a head of GMO lettuce from Pathmark. Swap it with a head of greenmarket lettuce. Watch someone buy it. Follow them home. After they bite in yell "GOTCHA! Monsanto Wins Again!!"
the rocambole garlic from keith's farm is fantastic (on saturdays, they're towards the north-east corner). i also like picking up a bag of broken pretzels from the martin's pretzelsbooth.
Show up at the end of the day (around 5:50) for some great last minute deals. Farmers would rather sell their produce for cheap than load it back on the truck
Every model knows the importance of eating a healthy diet loaded with fresh, organic foods and lots of produce. Top models including Miranda Kerr and Lonneke Engel shop here!
James Durr typically on the east side of the park on Saturdays has the best selection of flowers for very, very reasonable prices. Plus, they usually last a week, or longer!
Martin's HandmadePretzels are awesome & they give samples. Buy a bag of 'broken' -- cheaper, just as tasty & besides the whole ones are so big, snackers are likely to break them anyway.
