The Comedy Store used to be a club called Ciros, which The Doors played in April of 1967.
The HOB hosts the invite-only tribute to The Doors kicking off the 2012 Sunset Strip Music Festival. The tribute will feature friends telling stories and an all-star band tribute to The Doors.
Now called Mystery Pier Books, Jim Morrison and Robby Krieger played a short set of songs here and Jim recited An American Prayer for a “Norman Mailer for President” rally in 1969.
The Doors were the house band for Whisky A-Go-Go from May 23, 1966 to May 27, 1967, opening for acts such as Them, featuring Van Morrison, Buffalo Springfield, Love, and more.
The Key Club was the former site of the legendary Gazzarri's, which The Doors played in 1967, after they released their first self-titled debut featuring their first hit single “Break On Through.”
