The mom-to-be is comfortably positioned in a side-lying position using bolstering and pillows for maximum comfort and relaxation. (Massage is not recommended within the first trimester of pregnancy. An ancient eastern healing technique to promote balance and facilitate stress reduction, healing and an increase of energy levels through the stimulation of the reflex points on the feet and ankles. 1/2 hour.

Through the use of the therapist’s palms, thumbs, elbows, knees and feet, this ancient treatment combines pressure-point massage and assisted yoga in slow, rhythmic compressions and stretches along the body’s energy lines. Performed on a comfortable futon mat or massage table with the client fully clothed, thai massage balances energy, reduces muscle tension, increases flexibility and is deeply relaxing yet energizing. (Wear loose, comfortable clothing for this therapeutic treatment.)

A unique and relaxing massage with roots in Ayurvedic medicine (the “mother of all modern medicine”) and marma therapy (acupressure for strength and rejuvenation) , Indian Foot Massage encourages deep relaxation and helps balance the entire body. The lower legs and feet are refreshed with warm towels and the twelve marmas (energy gateways) are massaged with a kansa vatki bowl, which is made of three different metals: copper, believed to help with pain reduction, inflammation and arthritis; zinc for the immune system and digestion; and tin for digestion and relief from headaches and insomnia. The manipulation of these points encourages the free flow of energy to advance the relaxation and revitalization of tired legs and feet, improve circulation and enhance joint mobility.
