A drawback in Tashkent is that most cafes or bars feels obliged to play cheesy music at the highest possible volume. If you sometimes like to talk with people or enjoy quiet, here you go.
Rene: Tends to be rather empty during the day, thus makes a good place for a talk or some work. Sometimes when you arrive, they do start to play cheesy music - but you can always ask them to switch it off.
Rene: Not the cheapest spot, but a lovely location down at the riverside. Perfect cooling summer terrace. Most afternoons, there's far more staff than guests (hey, that might have to do with the prices).
Rene: Offers plenty of quiet spots to just sit around. Down at the waterfront, there's also a basic yet cozy cafe that offers non-alcoholic drinks (if you ask them nicely, they'll go buy you a beer, too).
Rene: A perfect and beautiful yard to sit and relax during the afternoon, when it's half to completely empty. A bit overpriced, but more worth the expense during the day than the night.
Rene: Pricey but reasonably relaxed lounge bar with good WiFi connection. Good for a casual business meeting or to simply get some work done while spending the money you earn for it at the same time.

Rene: Notoriously poor service, yet a nice outdoor terrace in summer; while on the inside you'll hear obnoxious types of music in an atmosphere that reminds of a cheap high-school cafeteria.

Rene: While the interior design isn't exactly made with love or care, it's still a nice spot to sit and talk. Offers actual good coffee and a hot chocolate that isn't a milk drink, but - chocolate. Hot.
