Established in 1702, this is known as America’s oldest residential street and today is lined with more than 30 houses, dating from the 1720s to 1830s.
The park gets its name from the series of artillery batteries built along the area’s waterfront for protection, starting in the later part of the 17th century.
Architect George B. Post designed the neo-Classic building, whose front features a glass window wall measuring 50 feet high and 96 feet wide.
